You won't appear desperate and needy if you aren't. I think a better way to rephrase that old saw is, "When you don't need someone is when you're most likely to find them." It doesn't mean you should relax on your porch and wait for Mr. or Ms. Right to appear on your stoop.

And for US$5,000 you can order her online!

This seems to be true to me also. There may be many someones for us in a life-time. I just think that we have a fantasy about "the" one who will complete us or something like that.

I'm happy as fuck to have met a few people who I feel this way about.

I actually laughed at this one. It was the "cocktease" part that was funny.
Me a cocktease? (Unless that word has a different meaning other than the one I'm familiar with.) Me trying to be a cocktease would be like a Manx cat trying to taunt a dog with it's tail, wouldn't it? That's pretty funny. I'm still snickering at this one.
glad I cheered you up, if only for an evening.

$5000 is actually a rip-off. If you want to meet a wife from some poor east Asian country it shouldn't cost you more than the cost of a plane ticket and whatever it costs to get a marriage license.

Indeed. And seriously Viking1, if you really want someone, this may be a good solution for you. Lot of men get mail order brides. They're looking for traditional, stay-at-home wives to keep house and have kids and provide for sexual needs.

I was only joking. I'm far too conservative to try something like that.

Then there is your answer. Cast all your inhibitions aside and let rip

Oh my! I'll get in BIG trouble if I do. If I had done that years ago I'd have been dead or in prison (whichever came first) way before now.

You'll be in big trouble if you don't. The way you act here you're just waiting to die in a prison of loneliness you've built for yourself. The irony is you're also the jailer. You're free to walk out any time you decide to risk doing so. Yeah you may fail, you may need to change your entire life but if awaking every day of your future is like it is now, I think you'll agree the risk is worth it.

To quote the philosopher Joel Goodson, "Sometimes you just have to say, 'What the fuck'".

He's right, viking1. I'm not going to say "I've been there" - why? Because I'm there right now.
It's tough, it's frightening, it's hardwork and it's draining, but I can already see the results and apparently so can others around me. (And if you want more parallels; in a way I did fly half way around the world to get laid, too. )
