This is very close to what I would pick, merc. Although, I like Alien #1 the best, I think it is really just "Jaws In Space". (Edit: I don't know what I mean by "just". Jaws is a classic formula for scary movies.)
I would add The Day The Earth Stood Still, for nostalgic reasons, having saw it as a young and impressionable kid. I can still say, "
Gort! Klaatu barada nikto", with enough conviction to stop the robot.
Since Dracula is on some lists, I have to add, Shadow of a Vampire. Although I don't consider vampire movies as science fiction.
