I imagine it may have something to do with a need for approval, recognition and/or acknowledgement. That said, I'll tell you that I was the same way. It was very common for me to exhibit myself in front of my father. He never seemed to care; of course, I saw him buck naked more than a few times, too.

Anyway, over time I've come to think that maybe that's exactly what I wanted: My dad to welcome me into the brotherhood of men, so to speak. And I don't mean that sexually. But some man-to-man recognition. Y'know?

A couple years ago my father and I ended up in a restroom together after a wedding at a community center. He actually checked me out as we stood next to each other at the urinals. And I swear to you that I perceived a slight nod that said to me: "Yeah, good stuff there. Looks good and healthy." Now, no words were exchanged, but as strange as it sounds, that episode was kinda important to me.

Yeah, maybe so. My dad and I didn't have a great relationship, so I think I craved a little positive energy from him. It's the best I can come up with, anyway...

I belive all sons want approval from their fathers. Some may deny it. But it is something guys really want. That approval might be in school success, business success and other areas. One area that all guys want and need is to accepted and approved as a man.

When I went through puberty it didn't go as I thought it would. My brother was and is bigger than me. So I hid myself from my father. But deep inside I really wanted that approval.

When I was about thirty a situation happened where the opportunity to be completely nude presented itself. I almost chickened out. My father just remarked that he had not ever seen me nude since I hit puberty. I finally admitted that I didn't think I measured up in that department. He replied that I was fine and whipped his out to show that we are the same size.

My dad is dead now. That moment meant a lot to me. There never was another time that circumstances were that I might be nude in front of my father again.

I'm glad that episode happened. I wish it had happened at age 16. It would have changed my perception of myself greatly.

I agree with you -- sons want their fathers' approval and in different ways. As a teen, I was highly aware that my best asset was my big dick. It was the only thing that I felt made me the same as my dad; it was the only thing we had in common. I wanted him to know that, and I wanted to KNOW that he knew that. So, like you, my experience with my father (at the urinals, above) was important.

Thanks guys for the responses. I guess what I'm taking away from this is that it might not be just about what we do, but also what we want, or think we want. In other words, there's a lot of heavy shit going on here.

So does that change the question any? If you never actually did show off for your father, did you ever want to, or think about it? Did the same impulse come out in some other way?

I have always and still do take any opportunity show off with friends, family and the gym. Regarding showing off tou your father i think it's the old exciting tabboo of father and son. There have been a couple of younger guys i've met who when they've seen my cock want to call me daddy.

I'm a grower so I have it both ways in the gym, change room, etc.
Sometimes I'm shrunken up and can look like the smallest penis in the room, while other times i can be hanging around 7 limp.
I do find that i'm more likely to walk proud when hangin bigger than smaller, but don't put much thought to it.
During the years though I have pulled on it a bit more in the shower to come up to par with friends that i'm with, just to let them know I've got a bit down there. I think there's a bit of that in all of us.

Okay, so it's a potentially funny topic. I knew that...not completely without a sense of humor.

But really...isn't there something deeper here? Or am I just kidding (and torturing) myself? Maybe so. But I think there are issues between men and their fathers that get brushed aside too often in favor of these kind of frivolous-sounding "I saw dad with a woodie" stories, or the endless I-like-to-show-off-the-lockeroom fables. It's not that these stories don't mean something; it's just that...can't we sometimes talk about what they mean to us?

I din't really have to show off because all of my friends did it for me they would brag to everyone about how hung I was...I would only show off at swim meets and in the school showers when everyone was checking me out in the showers and the other teams would come and look at me. My friends would say "yeah he is king of the meat" and tell them they could only wish they had a cock like mine. Made me feel good sometimes and sometimes I would not say or do anything.
