Beard or Goatee: Which Looks Best for Me?

So I'm bored and playing with my facial hair trying to see which looks better on me. Since I can never see myself as others see me, I thought I'd turn to my fine comrades at LPSG with their exceptionally good taste to see which style they think looks best one me.

I love goatees...they are so sexy! Not a huge fan of mustaches, but the goatees are smokin'.

I like the beard, but not because it hides your face. I just don't like a goatee
very much. Yet again on the other hand, what do I know?

I grew my beard in 1985 when I was 29 years old and looked like I was 18. It was all brown and red then. It's 50% white now. Still, I often hear from women that they like the "salt and pepper." I often wonder what's under it now . . . .

But a beard (or goatee for that matter) is only worth it if kept neatly trimmed, whatever the length (mine's as short as my beard shaver will allow). My least favorite part of the beard is the moustache. If not real short it either tickles my nose or lips. But a beard without a moustache just doesn't cut it.

i have a full beard and mustache.....you know some guys cant grow a beard......just a small mustache.

I'd go with clean shaven, but as that wasn't one of the choices I'm going for the beard, I'm not a great lover of beards but I think it actually suits you.

I like you with a beard, and think it would look really nice it it were gray or salt 'n pepper. That said, I think it would look better if you didn't keep it too short. Really short ones, if not kept constantly trimmed, remind me of Yassar Arafat who always looked disshevelled and in need of a shave all of the time. Also, I think the style of severely outlinning the jaw with a short beard when one does not have a slim neck (I don't since I'm one of those no neck bastards like "Cat on a Tin Roof."), makes one look like Brutus, Popeye's nemesis.

I think you look very handsome with the goatee. The beard is not working for me at all. I'm surprised there were so many votes for it. The goatee looks neat and trim, while the beard looks a bit unkempt. Plus, you look much younger with the goatee.

But apparently I'm in the minority.

I just read the poll options. Why on earth would you want to hide your face? You have a very nice face, and good skin. That's probably why I don't like the beard. It doesn't show off how nice your face is. The goatee adds style and character without hiding your face.

The face hiding thing was said tongue-in-cheek.
