I'm obviously not a woman, but I've received my share of wacky PMs also, running the gamut from cam 2 cam requests, to explicit description of the sender's want regarding my manly assets, to the never-ending jokes and wink-winks-nudge-nudges about my 1% gay thing... but the weirdest was this guy with a micro-penis asking if he could smell my ass... I've lost the PM, but the content will stay with me for a looooong time...

You do not explain why my prose is verbose. You have simply reasserted your opinion that it is. I may have used a (relatively) large amount of words, but did I really express myself excessively, repetitively, redundantly? I needed to make a number of points, so i did. I tried to respond with the comprehensivess that the post I was responding to deserved.

I think your reaction to my last post has been understandably influenced by your reactions to my previous posts: again apologies for the snarkiness.

Your "prose" appeared verbose because you were taking an inordinate amount of bandwidth to make a point or two and I thought you were being deliberately nasty, which would make your points moot, IMO. Now that you've explained yourself, I can read your words in a new light and gain new meaning.

I can appreciate where you were coming from in the beginning, patro78. Yes, sometimes the pm's can get a little bit exhausting. I simply delete them, so they don't bother me, and I would not put them out on a public forum.

However, I understand how some of the other ladies here would get frustrated, especially when they have advised they are not interested and it continues or they receive nasty comments out of anger because some of the men feel rejected.

I also appreciate that you actually thought about your argument, whether members agreed or not, and that you were mature and friendly in setting aside the disagreement. There are those who cannot bring themselves to apologize, or to accept an apology, and move on..................

P.S. Just in case, there is no implication of doing so toward anyone in this thread. I am sure there are histories with some members, but I don't really know what they are. My statement is meant to imply "in general".

On the topic of No_Bliss and Mercurial_Strings' experiment: Another fun experiment might be to create two identical (female) profiles, one with pictures, one without, and compare the quantity of PM's each receive.

I was not complaining that my posts were being ignored; didn't I explain that the reason I wrote a relatively long post (the length of which was, perhaps persuasively, citicised) was to offer a comprehensive response to a previous poster? I was attempting to spell out my reasons for diagreement, not "whine and moan". These reasons may or may not be convincing but at least I articulated them. I never suggested that the kind of messages about which you complain are ever justified;indeed I emphasised that that was not what I was claiming ("To be sure, I am not suggesting that anyone deserves to receive the kind of messages to which so many people have taken objection in this thread"). Rather, I said that, if you are a member of a site such as LPSG, such messages cannot be wholly unanticipated. Of course, if a messager is persistently harrassing you then surely this is serious enough to alert a moderator. If a message falls short of harrassment and is crude, overly-forward or offensive to you, then my position would be: ignore it. But I can certainly see how it would be frustrating to receive such messages constantly, especially if they are from vindicitve correspondents whose advances have been ignored or rejected. I should have restricted my comments to messages which are not intentionally nasty, vindictive and harassing.
