| The Fire Inside - a poem I spent 15 years writing novels. I can't seem to keep a focus long enough to do that anymore. So I've turned to poetry. Here's just a tiny sample . . . The Fire Inside THE FIRE INSIDE Watching the boil of the fireplace Warm and reassuring in its dance The wine, newly opened, beside us Lift your glass and taste its fragrance The wind is wild, hear the trees scrape the windows The rain like a cascade falls Inside, hear the music, Pachabel’s Canon in D Fills our hearts and fills the halls The dog sleeps softly in her bed by the door The only awakened eyes are our own The wonders of your body peek through your gown Still intriguing though for years I’ve known The secrets and sensations that make you why My desires and fantasies run hot Such that not having what the world holds sexy is less Than the majesty of the one I have got The bedroom upstairs is but a minute away But here on this rug let us lie And listen to the storm, taste the wine, hear the song For I see the fire in your eye |
