I'm going to throw a few wrenches in the works for you. And it's not because I'm a prude, trust me on that one. I'm probably one of the more kinky guys you would ever meet. Anyway...

I'm from Chicago, and I have to say that if you're going to slum it, you'll need bullet-proof vests to go into certain neighborhoods. We have guns here. And they shoot people all the time in Chicago who look like they don't belong in their neighborhoods. It's just a sad reality.

I work with homeless young adults (ages 18-26) in the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically in Berkeley in the East Bay. Berkeley and Oakland are similar in what I'm about to say. And I think that you can apply this to most areas in the US.

Let me introduce to you the women and men you are likely to meet when you pay for sex here in the USA who are home grown. These are women and men (and sometimes girls and boys) who generally come from very abusive home environments and have run away. Some of them have graduated the foster care system and had no skills or no income and are forced to sell their bodies for food, clothes, and occasional shelter. Many of them get "employed" by ruthless pimps who abuse them and take most of the money you will be paying them. So, generally, you will be meeting sex slaves in the truest sense.

These people who are sex workers generally are using drugs in order to escape the horrors of having to live on the streets and engage in a business that degrades them daily. They have low to no self-esteem left and the drugs help them to become numb enough to be able to survive emotionally.

Then, also, since prostitution is illegal in all States in the Union except for Nevada outside of Clark County, these sex workers and their customers are risking arrest and worse. And you add that we have many people who can't get basic healthcare here in the US to the illegal mess of telling a doctor that you are a sex worker, you have a recipe for a health disaster. Many of these sex workers catch all sorts of viruses, parasites, and bacteria. And even if you use condoms, there are things like warts, herpes, scabies, and crabs that can be passed to other parts of your body that exclude your genitals.

The sex trade in the USA pedals in human misery and exploits the most oppressed people in our society.

I just thought you might want to know what you will be paying for when you employ an American sex worker. Perhaps putting a human face on it while bringing you away from your fantasy and back into the reality behind the illusion, you might reconsider.

The above doesn't even talk about the women and boys who are snatched up from slums around the world and sold into sex slavery being brought to work as sex slaves here in the USA...

Or you could sit at home and make judgment calls about things you don't know much about to help yourself feel superior. That's fun, too. and definitely less expensive.

First, just because 1 EUR = 1.35 USD doesn't mean the economies in Europe where they pay in Euros are 35% stronger. If this logic were true, then I would have been getting paid 1/1000th of what I was in Korea, where 1000 KRW = about 1.10 USD. You're going to get dicked over on the exchange rate for one thing, and for another, in order for your logic to work, you'd have to be able to get a street whore in the US for $50 since you can get one at home for 50 Euro. You can't. Not unless you want a REALLY nasty one.

but.. it sounds like maybe you do. So... I can't really speak for the cities you listed, but if you want to find ugly skanky prostitutes around Washington, DC... most of them are by the Greyhound Station along South Capitol Street.

Sure, I understand. But the whole purpose of a sex tour is not to think of the misery. Personally I also think selling one's body is a normal way to survive if you're living in a slum.

Honestly I don't know. Capitol St is just where I've seen a lot of them. I was driving down there just last Sunday as a matter of fact and saw a bunch. A couple of them tried to jump in my Viper. Isn't that the road that goes by the Greyhound Station on 1st St or am I confused? I don't know about L St. You sound like you know better than I do.

If you want to get shot and you are in the metropolitan area, Baltimore is probably a better place for that. Just think how impressed all your European friends will be.

I have a very good friend from Russia who worked in the sex trade for six years. 1. I think the OP was a teaser... something along the lines of "look at the mighty Americans, they're now a 'sex tour' destination!" Does any nation truly aspire to have such titles?

2. Simcha makes some heart wrenching revelations about the sex trade, and it is not pretty. I own some rugs that may have been made by child labor, and I sometimes think that at least it IS bringing in money for their families that they might not otherwise have, similar to the argument made for supporting young people in the sex trade. Still, it seems to me that people paid for sex generally are more likely to have self esteem and other disturbing issues that wouldn't be perpetuated so easily if they weren't being paid for sex.

3. Sex taken to that level of remove and dispassion surely must cheapen the experience regardless of the euro/dollar exchange rate.

There are lots of thrill seekers in the world and the OP's seems pretty tame in all reality. Race car drivers, sky divers, the US mercenaries in Iraq, etc, etc are engaged in far more freaky pursuits than that of sex.

The OP was simply pointing out that due to the US' profligate spending and lack of saving the dollar has plummeted in value over the past few years. The loan crisis has simply made it worse. IMO, that definitely makes Europe better, but it's not the point the OP was trying to make, simply that for people with Euros or Pounds in their pockets, the US is dirt cheap right now.

I was just pointing out how much fun it is to sit on your ass at a computer and spout off about things you have no personal experience with that you read about somewhere on the internet before, or talked to your friend in college about a few times. That's can be a blast. and then, you can use those things to make you feel better about yourself, which is even better. I mean, sure you might spend more on a single steak dinner than a Thai family spends to feed itself for a month, you might walk around with an enormous sense of entitlement like everyone else who lives in a first world country, you might talk about those poor people in poverty stricken countries while not actually doing anything about it and spending money on things like high-speed internet connections or clothes made in Malaysian sweat shops, you might regularly funnel money to big corporations that have a vested interest in keeping the economies of third world countries down, you might ignore the disproportionate impact you have on the environment because of the car you drive or the trips you take or the fact that you eat meat..... but at least you're not one of THOSE people. You know... the ones who do the bad things you read about on the internet. The things that you don't like to do so instead of seeking to justify them, you condemn others for them so the things you do like to do seem nicer by comparison.

I wasn't saying that's what you do. But it is fun and it is cheap. If that's the sort of thing you enjoy, then more power to you.
