Can I ask what boi means, as in what kind of boy?
A boi is a guy who is no longer in his earliest years but still dresses the part. Usually in good shape. I have often been called a boi. I'm 37.

Now that we are on the topic of gay terms... does "Looking for your next trick" always mean that the guy is looking for another paying customer?

A boi might also be a gay man with a bit of a Peter Pan syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

ThinkKink: "tricks" in gay lingo doesn't mean a paying john for a prostitute. It generally means any guy you are having casual sex with, usually a one night stand or more commonly, a one hour stand. No money is exchanged but promiscuity and general manslutiness is implied. If you don't know or can't remember the guy's name after coitus, then he's definitely a trick: let's go treat or treating... no thanks, tricks are for kids.

A "trick" is just a sex hookup. Although if one is a prostitute a "trick" can also be a "john".

For one to "turn tricks" one must have a "Trick" to turn

So I think I'd rather be called a Wolf...but I'm more of an Otter.. and if I don't start working out and watching what I eat I'll be on my way to Bear
Nice, that clears up some confusion for me Pye. You're a sexy man and definitely not a Gingerbear

I don't know how much more of this I can bare! or is it bear?
everyone is making great points though. There are a lot of labels out there and its really not fair to pigeon hole someone on what you think they should be called. of course, sometimes we all generalize on occasion I guess. and yes, I was wodering exactly what the term wolf connotates too!
now lets come up with terms on here to describe the different sizes and shapes of cocks! rhino horns, elephant trunks, anacondas, pythons, bulls, donkeys, horses..and worms, squids, guppies for the not so big ones. imagine the fun that would cause! lol

A b-polar bear is not one who is just depressed...a bi-polar bear would be one who goes to the north and south pole...... Seriously, a bi-polar bear would go from being very happy to very depressed....sometimes rather, and I do not mean Dan, quickly. they are known as rapid cyclers, but not necessarily motor cycles or bicycles. Would a guy who is bi-sexual, or bi polar who rides bikes be a bicycler.....I don't know...I just have these questions pop into my head....

1, There's a club night in the UK for "Skins"* and their admirers Called, Oi, as in "Oi, c'mere and suck this...." etc, I always assumed a BOI was a man into that scene.
(Skins are socially identified by crew cuts/skinheads, MA1 flight jackets, Doctor Marten boots, bleached jeans Fred Perry polo shirts and a generally "harder" attitude towards their sex which is aggressive/assertive/sleazier. I don't know if the look is universal to gay cultures around the world, I know it's popular in the German scene....?)

2,And can we get away from this notion of pigeon-holing, it is redundant; I agree when these terms are imposed there is a problem, but for many Otters, Bears Cubs, Wolves, (blah blah blah) CHOOSE to adopt these signifyers and feel more inclusive for associating with that group and it's identity.

Laughing......ah, cute little guppies! I think that as long as the "label" isn't something derogatory, it's ok. Everyone is multi-faceted and most people realize that. A label gives an idea of what the person may look or act like, and what they are looking for so that someone else can form a picture in their head, something we all do regardless.

And it's everywhere. Lipstick or butch lesbians, jocks for athletic guys, girls who are tomboys. I myself tend to be a girly-girl, but I am still athletic and not afraid to get dirty. It's a way to give someone over the internet something to relate to.

I wanna be a kitten. >_> Here's one I'm making up! :p

Kitten - A young gay "boi" that tends to have sudden moodswings from cranky to giddy and back. Kittens are often high maintenance and can also be referred to as Divas and Princesses/Princes.

i would call you an otter. I was an otter when younger, now I am getting more bear-ish as I age. I disagree with the above statement that a bear is older and tubby though. many bear can be any age and are not tubby at all. many of them are muscled! true a heavy older hairy man is a bear, but not all bears are heavy older men. I am not heavy (true I could use to loose 10 lbs lol) but likewise I am not the slim swimmers build anymore so I doubt that anyone would consider me an otter still.

Aaaaaaw... thank you! This thread has got really interesting! Certainly clearing some things up... I guess I would be an otter or a wolf. One thing I do find interesting about labelling in the gay culture is the tendency to have a "type"... Lots of guys will only go for "twinks" or "bears" or "skins" or whatever they are into and not deviate or find other types attractive. It seems like a labelling system is their way to identify the type of man they are sexually attracted to.
