I Would Die 4 U is just Prince's way of being different.

U is just the phonetic sound of "you" and says nothing about sexual orientation. It just makes the song title/lyrics stand out from others which are mostly written in standard form. Such is my understanding.

"Str8" however refers to some kind of sexual orientation that only gays use. Conspiracy? I think so

I guess I'll resign myself to not knowing.

If posts on LPSG are anything to go by;

"Straight" means a heterosexual.

"Str8" means a heterosexual who likes to give & receive oral sex and masturbate with members of the same gender. Purely out of curiosity and not due to sexual attraction, of course.
