The beauty is that you can stop posting threads so they stop littering where I read. Every inch of it. Everyday I come here to more pointless posts. And I'm forced to read them because they are in my way of getting to the good stuff.

My brother accidently died last year in a foolish attempt to get his keys back that he had locked in a storage shed.

I am a failed suicide. From this I have had a near death experience.

I fell into a canal in France and almost drowned. I could not swim and kicked my way to the other side. I was 9.

I have totaled two cars.

I almost froze to death in a snowstorm. Twice. Once when I was six, once when I was 21.

I put out a fire in my house about twelve years ago and scarred my lungs a bit.

I know three people who have been hit by lightening, and lived.

I had West Nile Virus.

I know someone who died from a varient of Mad Cow disease.

I've had friends who died from AIDS.

I think I'm doing well, surviving.

Don't be ridiculous. I don't read every thread, only the ones I am interested in. You can also point your mouse over the thread to see a preview of the litter.

Exactly my point, he intentionally seeks to incite arguments rather than discussions. There is a marked difference.

To the OP - all of the above - what's it to you?

I didn't used to think that... now I'm not so sure.

You are preaching to the choir sister. He has attacked me in 3 separate threads in the last 24 hours, because he doesn't know how to disagree without attacking. I don't expect everyone to agree with me; but I do expect them to behave in a civil and polite manner.

Calling me a cunt and criticizing my gallery pics in a thread used to be considered trolling. IMHO mem0101 is clearly beyond a warning and has passed into banning territory.

Unfortunately, I can recount all of these events in my lifetime. I grew up in a small town and was on the ambulance for almost 9 years. The one on murder. I had another classmate of mine in junior high shoot another classmate and kill him. The jerk is out of jail now even.

Why do you want to know? This is going to bring up many unpleasant and painful memories for a lot of members. I know for fact there are many members who have experienced loss by all of these horrible methods.
I know how to spell and write a coherent sentence. Yes I do post typos at times.

I just thought it would be interesting for people to share what has happened in their lives.

If you had just said that you find the poll disturbing, I would have said that it was not my intention to make you feel that way, and that I was sorry that you did feel that way.

It was wrong to call you the C-word.

I think that you responded to the post in anger and hurt, I now understand that.

I am not trying to get people to argue. I wish all of us on here could get along, but it will never happen.

People are different, some want to share their losses and others do not.

I am sorry NJQT that I did reply with such rage.

It's just curiosity and sharing stories.

Why would posting a poll or question about tragedies incite arguments?

I don't read most of it to see what you've said.... don't be silly now. Your posts are so similar that there is no point in reading them. I read them for other peoples replies.

There have been more than one incident in specific types of accidents, but the onces that come to mind the most are:

Motor vehicle accident - My husband was killed by a teenager in a head on collision.

Fire - A very good officer friend burned to death in his police car responding to a call and was alive at the time.

Suicide - I have had more than one friend in emergency personnel commit suicide, and a very close friend did so while we were in high school.

Murder - My cousin was murdered in an alley on his way to the store to get my Aunt some milk. He was 8 years old and lived on a small reservation. Shot in the head for about 4 dollars.

Other accident - I used to work for a commercial airline, and very close friends who were flying standby and co-workers died in the crash of one of our aircraft.

As a result I never hang up the phone or leave someone while angry or telling them I love them, no matter what.

I had a cousin who was found strangled in a motel in Suburban Chicago.

I dated a girl whos father shot himself (Ironically on my 21st birthday).

I worked with a guy who was killed after being clipped by a WaveRunner while swimming in a lake.

Holy Crap, ZOS23xy.......that's a shitload of stuff to have survived !!

Our parents had already passed on when my one sibling, my older brother, was killed almost instantly by a drunk driver.

One of my husband's uncles commited suicide.

A high school friend was killed in a crash one month after graduation.

A friend's only son was murdered. His son was around 20.

One of my husband's cousins died of an accidental/unintentional combination of prescription drugs that were lethal taken together.

A friend from junior high school was in her 20's when she died of a burst aneurysm in her brain.
She just went home from work early one day with a bad headache.
She was found in bed with the phone in her hand the next morning.
