Why are baggy shorts and pants so popular?

I need to wear baggier clothing for comfort. Tight clothes just don't work for me.

is part of a discussion in the Underwear, Clothing, and Appearance Issues forum that includes topics on What to wear (to show or not to show), what's comfortable, what's not....

Email Unconfirmed

I'll try to wear something more revealing in future - I wouldn't want the starving masses to go hungry now ;)

I asked around about baggy pants, (specifically Sagging your pant to show off you boxers) And found out that sagging got started in prison so that when you did sagg it was to alert the other inmates that you we're a bottom (or open for anal sex)

as for me and baggy pants/clothes I dont really like it... If it doesn't flatter your body then you aren't dressed well... It doesn't nessisarily have to be tight all the way around I can't wear tight pants. with the way i'm shaped (the large cock don't help either) it looks odd I can wear fitted ones that have striaght lose legs and I will be fine...

My point is, everyone is different and should wear what look's good on them and what looks good to them.

as for baggy pants, I think that is a dying trend myself, i see lil skaters roaming aroung on their boards with pants i could never wear, and back in the day (1990's) it was cool for skaters to wear baggy jeans...

WTF? Whoever told you that baggy clothes were created by fat people is a catty bitch.

High Luck is partly right.

Baggy clothes came into existance in response to what was happening during the late 80's and mid 90's in LA and New York. In jail, there were only one-size prison outfits and the pants had no drawstrings; so men would go around with baggy pants, hanging off their asses. Once they got out of jail, they'd continue to dress that way, wearing pants that were multiple sizes bigger than they. Also, it was alot easier to hide things such as weapons or drugs or whatever. These styles were picked up by hip-hop and pop artists and then became the "new thing." It hasn't gone away since.

That's what I always heard, it started in prison so inmates could hide weapons on themselves. I don't think it had anything to do with being a bottom and if it did I don't think it would have became so popular.

I've just arrived back in the UK after a vacation in Miami and I was surprised to find that around the hotel pool I was the only guy wearing Aussiebum swim trunks. Everyone else was wearing baggy board shorts. I know they look good but come on guys if you have a good body show it off.
I used to arrive at the pool in my board shorts then drop them to reveal not too brief aussies and hey the admiring looks made my wife pretty proud.

I may have to retract a lil bit of what i said earlier as my girlfriend was "dressing me" making me try on all sorts of pants nothing looked good... until the last pair i tried on... they were tighter, but there was no bulge, they didn't make it look like my legs came to a point, or make me look like a pear... they looked really good! I asked what brand they were she said they were guess?... BUT that's not what surprised me, they were GIRLS jeans!!! hahaha i hate to admit it but if it looks good on you, wear it...

Maybe just different part of the world....

I noticed, even the Americans here are really into their overly baggy sweat pants, male & female, they look so unattractive, I was like whats up with that?

Over this part of the world, skinny jeans, low riders, buns huggers are totally in.

Even we wear boardies, but at the moment white revealing low rider boardies are in, and many wear tight speedoes underneath or just wear brazilian styled squared swimming brief boxers.

Also a lot of these new tight clothing have the large pouch in mind, so they are extremely comfortable :D

If only America is not so self-centred, they can perhaps learn a few fashion tips from other parts of the world

The Puritans were a large part of the early settlers of the United States. That influence is painfully felt to this day. I would love to see the baggy look give way to nicely fitted clothing.

Also, not everyone likes clothing that is form fitting. I know that many people like to see guys who have hot bodies wearing little to no clothing, but that's just something that doesn't fit everyone's lifestyle. Besides, if a guy was walking around wearing little to no clothing, most people would be offended or think, "oh, he think's he's the shit...no one wants to see his narcisistic ass!"
