I have seen them at my university and at the union hall years ago Things were much diffrent then as this was before AIDS. I have seen Glory holes before I even knew what they were as a child traveling with my family we would stop at the rest stop or at a service station to use the facilities. WOw those were the days. well actually i think so... i saw the "evolution" of one at my school... there were just peep holes in this one specific stall and then eventually it began to grow and then there was a full fledged glory hole there by the end of the month. the custodians covered it up and filled it but they just went ahead and brought it back down to the hole it is... it's huge now... i always wanted to see this creation in action but i guess not... lol

I think that glory holes were more popular years ago than they are today. I've seen them but never used them.

Glory holes were indeed much more prevalent 50 years ago..bowling alleys, movie theatres , department stores,park restrooms, hotels, bars, train stations, comfort stations and yes colleges all had them. I have a lot of experience with glory holes - I live in berlin (germany) and that may be a different story over here (sorry for my bad english).

I went to technical university here in berlin and one of the restrooms has a stall with a glory hole (I have no idea who put it in there; you could tell they tried to close it several times, but whoever re-opened it again and again so they gave up trying to close it after all). And I know the other universities have them too, as well as some public libraries do.

my favourite thing to do was sitting in that first stall (which is next to a long row of urinals) and peek through the little hole in the wall towards the urinals, watching the guys coming in, taking a piss, shaking off.

As far as glory holes at college. At UCSF Med Center on the 6th floor there was a locker room. Instead of a glory hole, the stalls were divided by frosted glass panels framed with wood. There was about a 2-3" space between the panels that were used in place of a glory hole. That along with the frosted glass made for some very erotic play time.

The basement men's room at David Lawrence Hall on the University of Pittsburgh campus has a glory hole between the last two stalls that I think every gay man in the Pittsburgh area has at least heard of.
