LPSG.ORG

LPSG Members: become part of the solution.

I do like the idea of a moderator's account of some sort. Warnings, announcement of bans etc could then come from the moderators. No one would know which mod actually sent the private message or

is part of a discussion in the Et Cetera, Et Cetera forum that includes topics on Off-topic postings, current events, rants and raves....

But each of us would still have our personal accounts that would function the same as a regular members.

Here are the ideas that I support wholeheartedly, because I think they would make the site far more on-topic and possibly reduce the number of silly and unresolvable arguments:
  • Public description of why a member was banned or why a thread or post was deleted. This encourages moderator accountability and keeps everyone informed. Don't allow comments on these descriptions or it will just descend into a flamewar.
  • Redesign the thread rating system so bad threads can have a negative rating and good threads can get stars. The current system awards a star to a badly-rated thread and no stars to an unrated thread. That doesn't make sense.
  • In order to have a gallery, at least one of the pics should contain a photo that shows the member (doesn't have to be the face, just whatever body part they are wanting to share in other pics) with a piece of paper that has their username and LPSG written on it. I know this can be faked, but it would discourage at least some if not most of the pic-stealing and deception that goes on.
  • Members that are found to have stolen pics should be banned.
  • Definitely more PM storage space!
  • A notification when someone leaves a comment on your gallery or blog.

I actually don't think there is much of a problem to find a solution for...

It's just some people arse about and try to stir the pot, which can never be stopped completely, because new people will pop up and cause trouble.

Anyway - here's a thought - Instead of the word 'member' under our name and above our picture, we could put our own thing - like 'Cow' or 'Udderly Delicious' or whatever...
And gold members can just have theirs in gold...

From reading previous posts, the humans don't like the current rating system. This could probably be changed quite easily by only having positive feedback, like only having thumbs up.
This would eliminate the thumbs down for unpopular people and give some kind of 'trust rating' for each member, like a mini-reward for good posts.

Anyway, those aren't necessary but the little querky and inividual things can make a huge difference in raising the morale of the forum and could be helpful in getting rid of the odd snide comment here and there - adding a more positive and friendly atmosphere to this place which some humans think is lacking.

But what do I know? I'm just a humble cow...

I hardly think that's a solution to the issues other members might be having with the site! (Though maybe it is worth a try )

Here's your answer:

Just so long as you're willing to risk ending up with egg on your face.

How about 'personal stickys' for threads that we may want to check up on or keep for referance...?

You already have this! It's one of my favorite features, but it's not very well publicized.

If you want to keep track of a thread, click on "Thread Tools" (it's a link just above the first post on the page, and below the "rate this thread" box). Go down to "Subscribe to this thread", and then click on "Add subscription".

Then -- whenever you like -- click on "Quick Links" (it's at the top right corner of the page, next to the "Log Out" link), and go down to "Subscribed threads". You'll see a list of all the threads you've marked, and the ones with unread messages in them will be bold.

I think this is pretty close to what you were looking for.

You asked
1) Dispose G.W Bush
2) Fire Jeb Bush.
3) Tax G Bush senior
4) Stop trying to imitate the monarchy. ( The Bushes REALY don't count)
5) Become the USA that we all love(d), get a free press, and just be HAPPY!

Three cheers for the fantastic changes that have so improved the LPSG experience!

Who knew that having the eye-rolling smiley on the quicklist was causing so much of the agony amongst the members here? What administrative genius to recognize this as a priority and simply remove it from plain sight!

Huzzah!

Huzzah!

I've never noticed changes before...but being an IT guy, I can tell you that nothing changes that wasn't changed by someone. There have always been a dozen smilies on that quick list...now two have gone missing.

To be on the safe side, I didn't post this when I first noticed it, though. I've waited several days to see if it might "fix" itself. No, I believe someone actively removed it from the configuration.

I agree about the 'changed by someone'* but not about the always a dozen - that has flicked flacked between 10 and 12 a few times in my tenure.

* Having worked as tech support I feel your pain - "What have you changed recently, sir/ma'am" "Nothing - the computer did it all by itself!!" Yeah right, you asshole, what kind of schmuck do you think I am??
