I've read that also, and the article also pointed out that even dogs spread their legs apart to urinate as a natural instinct. Sitting alone doesn't help the bladder, but sitting with legs apart was cited as healthy release and good for the bod.
I stand most of the time, if only out of laziness or convenience.
