I can't echo and underline Madame Z's words enough; if you didn't experience the headache of being here following the Channel 4 fiasco, then you really can't imagine the extent to which the site was
swamped with trolls and tawdry hook-up merchants. All due to the way it was misrepresented on the show. Yes, a
handful of good posters joined because of it, but they were most definitely in the minority. Otherwise, it just became Freakshow Central Station with trains departing to Trollville and Fuckwitt Town every half hour.
Of course you should be contacting Rob about this first and foremost. It would be good if you could clarify precisely what kind of "gay magazine" you write for too: since there is clearly a difference between
discussing the site in a more 'serious' publication, and simply
mentioning it in a crypto-porn mag that's given away at clubs, for example.
