Worlds most annoying songs

Anything with a whiny male lead or solo singer makes me spew. Same with songs that objectify women. Alanis' "My Humps" made me wet myself when I first saw it. First time I heard the first few notes of her cover of "Crazy" I went ballistic--some songs just need to be left alone!--then I recognized the newness brought to the song by her voice, and the video makes a lot more sesne than Mr Heidi Klum's original.

Give me Barry White's "Never Gonna Give You Up" An unforgettable voice with sexy lyrics...my partner Mike sang it to me at a karaoke bar on a trip a few weeks ago and had me rock hard yet blubbering.

A valid subcategory of your list might be any of Amy Grant's quasi-religious wailings. Possibly even more irritating than the usual fare offered by the Banshees, because we also get 'The Message' with our high pitched vulture caws.

We're forgetting the whiney banter of emo groups such as: Bloc Party, Panic at the Disco, Hellogoodbye, etc.

I don't know how it ever came into fashion, but it seems like "the in-crowd" think that the more notes you sing, the better you are. Listen to any episode of American Idol. It's horrible. I always get shot down when I say this, but "my piano has 88 keys on it. That doesn't mean that I feel like I have to use every single one of them in every single phrase of every single tune I play." I've been told that this trend "makes the singer sound more soulful." To me, it sounds like they don't know what note to sing, so they will sing all of them.

I don't know what "emo" means, and I've never heard of any of these. I guess I should consider myself lucky, huh?

Actually they play it in Korea, too. Though they have redone it with Korean lyrics and girls singing the song instead of a bunch of metro guys.

Soft cell's "Tainted love" was really good when it came out but after a week of non stop playing by my brother - I fucking detest that tune!!!

Dave Matthews' voice isn't very whiny -- most of the time. It can be quite gritty and powerful. Guessing you haven't heard Rhyme and Reason, Watchtower cover, Halloween, etc. Besides, there are plenty of whiny singers. Turn on Vh1 any time they are playing videos and in an hour you will see several. Interesting the songs you listed are over 10 years and most people have probably forgotten about.

If you hate DMB that much, I'd be curious how you feel about Five For Fighting. To me they seem like everything you can not like about DMB heightened. I actually think he writes some pretty good songs. But listening to a whole album is too sugary and lame even for me.

Like I said. I still think he sucks. Nobody is going to convince me otherwise. I've had two ex girlfriends who absolutely loved him so I have heard quite a few tracks that don't get played on the radio. The ones that do, though, are obviously the ones that stick out in my mind the most in threads like this because they are the ones that are overplayed over and over and over and become incredibly obnoxious if you hated the song the first time you heard it. But I'm glad others find something of value in his work and derive enjoyment from it.
