Eye contact. That's a good test.

If you hold eye contact with a man for a 'longer than appropriate' amount of time [but try not to look like a freak...don't stare him down or anything];
1. with a straight man. He will look away, or, if he dosen't look away, will think you want to fight him. Don't do this at straight bars, or you'll start trouble.

2. with a gay man. He will think you want to look at him. And that your interested in him. This is the key to flirting/cruising. A friend of mine explained this to me, he cruises guys a lot in public. If your walking on a sidewalk twards a man you wanna cruise, hold your eye contact...smile a little or not (depends on your attitude). Don't stare...gaze;) Then he'll know you like looking at him. After you pass each other, count 3 seconds to yourself in your head, then turn around to look at him walk away. Wait. If he turns around too, then he was interested, if not...NEXT PLEASE!

....that's how it's done. So I've been told. I've only done it a few times. During a Gay Pride festival. [does that actually count during Pride?...even the nastiest fuckers get laid during Pride, and that's without crusing]

Well you probably have enough advice by now.

All I would say is that even if a guy indicates that he is straight, you might find other qualities, and things you have in common, to start up a good friendship. Sexy straight guys are great company if you show them some respect.

Having handsome, and talented straight guy friends is always a good look for a gay dude. It can attract the gay guys into your orbit, and get you noticed by them to say the least.

As far as eye contact is concerned the trick is to look, and then look away a few times rather than stare too much.

If you are up closer over coffee, for example, then one trick is to look attentively into his left eye and then across to his right eye for a couple of seconds and back to the left one again, and then away. Practice on a friend first. It is a good technique that can be quite seductive when used with confidence. It is essentially about being the flame rather than the moth which is always a good strategy. This works and is called cruising. A gay guy won't break eyr contact easily if he is interested.

Another thing: I had a gay buddy who has NO gaydar. So he buys shirts that have sayings or meanings that can be read into and looks to see who is checking out his shirt.

Sometimes the question: "Are you gay?" is a good way to tell as well.

I remember seeing an episode of a show back when I was a kid where the test was.
"Hey do you have something on your fingernail?" or "Hey is something stuck on the bottom of your shoe?"

GAY = holds hands up with palm facing out or raises legs up behind the body and looks down over the shoulder.

STRAIGHT = curls fingers down and turns hand palm facing in or raises foot in front of the body and looks down.

I saw the fingernail joke on a hi-larious American Dad back before Christmas. I usually hold my hand up and rotate it or instinctively start dragging my shoe on the ground without looking down. Guess that explains the 50/50 split
