Ed I have to agree with you on this. I have dropped all studies with the Kingdom Hall and my advisor/teacher. I was so confused on religion now that I don't believe in religion. I believe the bible, God, and the universe. Not some guy standing at a podium or the guy on T.V. Yeah it's nice to have organized religion but it really screws people up as to whether what we really should believe. I'd rather keep my views, and beliefs to myself and not force it on others unless they want to learn or know.

And as far as masturbation goes, it's ok. My opinion is that masturbation is a way to abstain from sex and to keep yourself from temptation. It isn't a bad thing at all and it shouldn't be frowned upon.

You're headed in the right direction, Crissy...but that oxymoron up there tells me that you haven't quite unshackled your mind completely just yet. In addition to containing a mashup of conflicting messages, fables, and allegories...the Judeo-Christian bible and its bastard cousin the qur'an are responsible for more acts of "evil" (murder, torture, genocide, warfare, terrorism, etc) than any other creation of mankind.

And make no mistake, that's precisely what they are: creations of mankind. No god reached down from heaven and inked those words onto paper. Even worse, the original written accounts were themselves transcriptions of stories that were passed along through oral tradition for centuries after the events took place. These are not the objects on which you should base your spiritual beliefs.

I entreat you to let go of your ethnocentric crutch and expand your spiritual understanding beyond the bible you grew up with. My use of the term spiritual here is deliberate, to distinguish it from the notion of religiosity. Hold fast to your belief in a god or the cosmos or a higher power...just don't let yourself be forced into confining those beliefs into the neatly ordered boxes provided by the rules of organized religions.

Start reading the histories of spiritual beliefs that predate worship of the Judeo-Christian god. The Celtic peoples are a good place to start, as are some of the better-known philosophies of the Far East like Taoism and Buddhism. Once you've liberated yourself from the notion that humans are flawed creatures who require salvation through religion, you'll be amazed at how much negativity vanishes from your everyday outlook on life.

Well some of that I have to differ. Not saying that you are wrong, and I don't hold anything against you. But I don't seek salvation thru religion, and I do believe in the bible. In fact my bible is not of the present day or revised or butchered. Like I said I will stick to what I think, and I will never force anyone to be a Christian, unless they want it.

I also think it's up to mankind to decide whether to be good and not murder, or cause genocide. God isn't really a babysitter to watch every human on earth once we learn what's right and wrong then it's really up to us. And of course if we are doing something wrong and we don't realize it then we will suffer for it in the long wrong, and that's just really common sense anyway. That's all I think. But that's just what I think that's all it's just a little belief I have. I don't want to cause heated arguments or anything beause I am peaceful person so it's just whatever.
