| | | Circumcision Question Hey guys,
I've got an issue.
come January, I'm getting circumcised, and as much flak as I'll get for this, I have no choice in the matter, a severe case of phimosis is causing me issues, so I finally made the decision to get cut.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm absolutely terrified, I've had a foreskin 19 years, and it provides some damn good pleasure, but the phimosis is causing me problems that can only be solved by circumcision, it's such a case where it actually restricts my size, and I can't have sex because the skin tears it's so tight.
I understand that I'll be losing a lot of nerve endings, and a fair bit of skin, but I spoke with the urologist, and he's going to remove as little skin as it takes to remove the phimosis, but what i want to ask is, any of you guys who have had the cut done, or know someone who did, how bad was it? or if they prefer being cut, what are the big pros of having it done? Thankfully, I'm getting a loose circumcision, so I won't have the big issue of the 'high & tight cut' this doesn't appeal to me, as I've always had a fair bit of skin to play with . But I just wanted to get some first hand opinions, or even second hand, so long as it's constructive :D

| | | I've always beed cut, so I can't really give a definite opinion, but being cut isn' bad. Even if you like being un-cut better, it won't be the end of the world. Sorry I can't give a personal opinion. | | | |

| | | I have a friend who had to have it done later in life and after the healing process and a bit of adjustment it was ok for him. Given that it is a matter of have to have it done and you've got a good doctor he or she should be able to make it happen with out ill effects. Being able to state your wishes to be cut a bit looser should also help with getting used to it. My friend had to have it done in an ER so he wasn't quite as lucky but he let his partictular problem get a bit worse than you ... or so it sounds. Remember your doctor is there for you to help you get through it so if you have questions spacific to your situation don't be afraid to ask them.
Good luck and best wishes ... you'll get through it.

| | | You might want to look into possibly stretching the opening gradually over time you could loosen it up or maybe using a steroid cream in addition. I dont know off the top of my head but there are other options. | | | |

I've been looking for solutions for 4 + years, Steroid Cream never worked, stretching (long term or short term) only made it worse, the fact is fora ll my trying, it's only gotten worse, I can't have sex because the skin tears so easily, and it's gotten to the point where it's restricting my erections (thus the whole restricting my size shpeel)
I just want constructive advice from others who've had it done, or know someone who's had it done, I don't want to hear what I've heard a hundred times before "oh no, don't do it, genital mutilation, blah blah blah"

| | | fr4gged, aome people see the word circumcision and automatically go ballistic. One poster stated that you would hate it. How does he know unless he has had it done? A friend of mine that I grew up with in England had to have his done when he was almost 15 much because of the same reasons that you are having ro have it done. After he recovered he loved it, said he wished his Mum and Dad had had it done when he was born so he wouldn't have had to go through so much pain. Mine was done when I was an infant so I don't know any other way, but I like mine like it is and I don't think I've lost any sensitivity due to being cut. You do hear a lot of people call it penile reduction surgery. I mean blimey, I got almost 9 inches hard as it is and if circumcision is penile reduction surgery, how big would mine have gotten if left intact? Mate it's your decision and since it IS a medical necessity, disregard the negative posts and best of luck with your surgery. | | | |

I KNOW. | Have you looked into a dorsal slit-type procedure instead? That could fix the phimosis, and leave the foreskin. You could have your cake and eat it too.

| | Photo Verified Member | Try stretching. There is a cone type thing that 'foreskin restorers' use. You slip it inside your foreskin (you could use a small cone at first) and it will stretch it slowly. You can wear it all day and its easier than stretching by hand.
I really wouldn't like to get circumcised but if you HAVE to...there's no way around it. Just make sure you try everything else, whatever that may be.

| | Email Unconfirmed | I've spent years restoring my foreskin so my opiniion is biased. I would recommend that you pursue the least possibly destructive option possible and that is a dorsal slit.
I do understand that your foreskin has caused a lot of problems but totally removing it may cause you even more problems including lack of sensitivity, problems reaching orgasm, skin infections due to abrasion of the penis through sex or tight fitting clothing, etc.
Good luck, but remember, a total circumcision is exactly that. Make sure your doctor understands exactly what you want done.

| | | One of my best friends from WW II had his done while in France during his tour there. I don't remember WHY he had it done. The trouble was that a couple of his friends (?) paid a prostitute to slip into bed with him while he slept. Upon awakening and finding the naked girl next to him - - - well he had to have new stitches put in.
My advice is not to publish too much information about your upcoming surgery and DON'T trust your friends at all. You never know what some people may think is funny.

| | | I don't know if this will help you, but here goes:
At the gym I was acquainted with an uncut student from abroad. He spent a year or so in Europe, and one day, on his return, I saw him in the shower at the gym, and he had been circumcised. Frankly, for a moment I wasn't sure that it was he. He didn't have any complaints about his circumcision -- said he hadn't yet masturbated or had sex, so he didn't know how his pleasure had been affected. I certainly thought his penis looked better -- he had had quite a bit of foreskin overhang.

| | | Buddy,
I don't know anyone who was cut as an adult by choice.
There are situations when there really is no other option - a friend was cut at 17 due to the same condition as you - he'd tried EVERYTHING - but in the end he had it done - he isn't entirely happy. And if he ever says things like "I want my skin back" (in a sort of jokish fashion) - all I say is, you feel things in a different way - yeah, it isn't what you wanted... but it still works and you can definitely still have fun with it.

I went to High School with a guy that suffered from phimosis although it wasn't I guess a really severe case. He was able to skin it back when he was hard although when he did, it cut the blood circulation off to the head and as I remember a few tears to the eyes as well. A couple of years after we were in college, I asked him if he was ever able to get it "fixed" meaning cut, I guess... he said he had gotten tired of the pain and did it himself. He said he ripped the skin under the head and it worked. I guess he did his own dorsal clip.
You will not find another person on this board apposed to circumcision as I am. I applaude you for this very hard decision. I can only echo what has been said by a few here... make sure your doc know's exactly what you want. Perhaps clipping the dorsal skin might remedy the problem and maybe not. But doctors occassionaly get a little knife happy so make sure that he understands to remove the very minimum to relive the phimosis.
This is the way circumcision should be handled though, when YOU THE OWNER decide to remove it and not a doctor brow-beating the parents to do it. Good luck with it. How about showing us before and after pics so we can watch your progress...?
