I saw hundreds of films with John Holmes including the early gay ones and everything he did before he died of aids. He was heavily into drugs and toward the end,and it probably was a dirty needle that infected him. Sorry for the late post, but I've been dying to express my thanks to alex8 for sharing such historic pieces of the late and great John Holmes! They are by far the rarest I've ever seen and they were very fascinating to watch! I still don't believe he's gay or bi after seeing them (especially the second one where he looked disgusted and very uncomfortable), but this only adds more to the never ending mysteries of John Curtis Holmes :) . I saw an 8mm film in the late 1970's starring John Holmes. I was only 18 at the time and could not believe how big this guy was! The fact is that the gestation period is typically something like nine years.
There is also no certainty at all that an act of sex with a single infected partner ... especially when we're talking about the active partner, which Holmes was in that film ... will result in infection. It might, but far more often would not.
He had also been an injection drug user, right?

So no one can say how Holmes got infected.

You beat me to it :) . No one knows and probably will never know how Holmes truly got AIDS. I think there was a good chance that he did get it from The Private Pleasures of John C. Holmes, but it could've been from anywhere really. Two interesting facts I should point out though: Four of the actors in The Private Pleasures all ended up receiving and dying from AIDS. Also, I swear I read somewhere that Holmes had like a small scar on his penis around the time he made that movie and this could've opened up when penetrating someone with AIDS and caused blood to transfer inside.

Actually according to Holmes' second wife Laurie, Holmes was terrified with needles and never injected heroine. Some claim that he could've got it from injecting drugs because his veins on his body stick out in some films, but Holmes always had profound veins like that, even in the old gay films posted in this thread before he got into drugs.

But yeah, I think you're right about the various sexual contacts he had off camera. I'd be willing to bet that is where he got it from.
