I agree men should be more conservative while showering with others but it will never happen. Guys are too curious about what everyone else has got in comparison to what they have. I have never had any problem showering in a communal area. In my high school after football practice we had to shower and no one thought twice about it. everyone showered together, the hung, the small, the big, skinny, and muscled. Even in college i never had a problem...I guess though high school and college are a whole lot different than iin a public gym wear anyone can gain access.

The showers in the men's locker room at my high school were open showers, with four stalls for those that were modest. The local gym I go to as well has open showers and no stalls. Never have I seen any guy with an erection. At the most, all I've ever seen was a semi-erection, if that.

There is always looking. No one says anything about checking one another out and usually no one notices that a guy is checking him out becuase he is too busy checking out the other guy. I got a pretty big semi in a huge open shower room at a waterpark one time.
