I know married couple whose lives are too much like prostitution, ie. the wife won't put out until the husband does certain chores around the house, or the husband won't take his wife out for dinner until she gives him head. I think prostitution is at least honest.

Illegal, yes, and not a good idea for self esteem for either party.
