Gotta love it when an old thread gets revived, but it is good to expose (pun intended) folks to some normalcy now and then. lol
I think I've been in every scenario imaginable--on trips with family, new friends, old friends, business associates, living in a dorm, in a cramped apartment with a roommate, etc. I usually watch what the other person/people and follow suit until I learn what their comfort level is. If someone is rather subdued, I don't flaunt nudity. If I'm getting out of the shower and need something out of my bag on the bed, I'm not going out of my way to cover up, but I might not sleep naked if he doesn't do it or mention anything.
With a group of buddies I take sports roadtrips with, none of us are modest--except for one guy's brother who sometimes comes with us--so if we do have a newbie on the trip, they learn pretty fast that we're pretty casual with nudity on our trips--four or six guys in a room or mini-suite getting ready at the same time means that we're sharing the space and there will be nudity and nobody thinks much of it. I've seen all these friends from totally soft and "turtling" when tired and cold, to full floppy cocks, to semis standing out, to full blown boners when getting out of bed. It ain't no big thang when you're comfortable with yourself and who you're with. (I've known most of these guys since I was in grade school or even before, so its not like we're strangers.)
Exwhysee mentioned his nephew. My nephew is like a cross between a son and a best friend. My brother-in-law is very business-like and "proper", so there isn't much nudity around their house. With my nephew around, I was more modest until he got into 11th or 12th grade, and especially in college. He might see me naked when changing after a whitewater rafting trip or something like that, but if he was at my house, I'd at least wear boxers and keep my bedroom door somewhat closed if I was naked in there or in my bathroom.
When I went to his room the first week he was in college, I walked in to see my nephew standing naked and talking on the phone, right out of the shower. He wasn't too concerned and neither was I. He is 26 and married now--a handsome 6-4, 220 lbs of All-American guy. We're likely to skinnydip in my pool--he has perfected the naked cannonball and can-opener!
My nephew and I are a lot alike--moreso than he and his dad in so many ways. When he saw me naked and it wasn't just in passing, he recognized that we have the same type endowment. All he said was words to the effect of, "Man, I'm glad I don't have dad's family's dick." lol
I did have a real funny thing happen last summer on a trip to a softball tournament. I was sharing a hotel room with three other guys on the team. We had played a couple of games that day, were getting ready to go out to dinner, and everyone was in and out of the shower. Our door had been propped ajar with that lock bar thing, because teammates in adjacent rooms had been in and out. Someone called the desk for more towels, and they were delivered. When the housekeeping lady knocked, someone assumed it was a teammate yelled to come on in. She did and was met with seeing four or five guys naked or in various states of undress. At that moment, I was coming out of the bathroom with just a towel in my hand. Another guy was stepping out of his underwear, one was completely naked, and one was showing another player his tattoos and flexing his muscles (very impressive artwork on his arms, torso, and legs). The look on the woman's face was priceless! For the rest of the week, any time we saw her in the hotel, she looked away.
