While I was posting a comment elsewhere I got around to thinking that it is quite often the same people who hate gay men that love lesbians. I do not think that this topic has really been covered here (please forgive me if I am wrong.) I have thought of it before and have never been able to come up with an answer that comes close to satisfying me. These are the people who say that “homosexuality is unnatural and an abomination” and “gay men should all be dead.” Then they turn around and go on for hours about what a huge turn on it is to watch porn with 2 women going at it. It is funny, but I know that there are some women who go to bars to make out with each other (not because they are interested in each other- but because they know it will attract many men very quickly.) For some strange reason I never see two guys making out in a bar in the hopes that it will attract attention (I know that some of you are probably going to tell me that I just hang out in the wrong bars.)

Does anybody have any actual theories (please don’t just tell me because they lack the ability to reason; that is obvious.)

i think it just proves that most str8 guys are simply unable to see things from a different perspective.. fake lesbians* get them horny so it must be a good thing. gay men disgust them so it bad.


*not to generalise..(ok just a bit) but the "lesbians" on the strip clubs and porn videos are anything BUT real lesbians.. i have yet to meet a lesbian that is so preoccupied with appearing sexualy arousing to heterosexual males.. (huge boobs, blonde hair extensions, stiletto heels and a ton of makeup)

most lesbians are not hot or good looking and dont really care about them. bi chicks rule cuz i can join in on the fun.

as for the double standard. straight guys like girls so 2 girls is even better. straight guys DONT LIKE GUYS so they dont want to see 2 gay going at it.

that's not a double standard. the double standard relates to beating it to lesbian porn, and then being a homophobic asshole in public.

I can tell you (as I've posted elsewhere on this board) that I've had straight men who are all hot for the girl on girl phenomenon who'll say "Hey wait!! They aren't gay women they're lesbians and that's totally different. Girls are more inclined to like their same sex than guys are".

I'm fucking serious.

It's nothing but further manifestation of straight dudes (some) imposing what gets them hard on the accepted sexual morality. It's working too. Plus it has the side benefit for them of further marginalizing gay men (who in my opinion they truly fear for a myriad of reasons) further to the fringes of societal acceptance.

Case in point: Many times on sitcoms on American television I'll hear this quote: "And she was talking about a three-way and not the good kind" HUH??

It's my considered opinion moreover that men generally have more experimental sex in adolescence than adolescent females do. Men detach sexually (in general) from what I've observed more easily than women and bottom line: they just want someone to touch it or suck it.

I know a fair share of heterosexual women who watch gay male porn too but try telling many hetero dudes that this phenomenon exists and they'll say "no way". Selective reality is alive and well.

Actually, at one point of his uni days, one of my mates did commonly snog one of his (male) mates for the exact same reason that girls do it - it guaranteed both of them would be going home with a girl.

I think it's hypocrisy, but instead of a double standard between gays and lesbians, it's more about saying one thing in public and doing something contradictory in private.

I think most homophobes aren't going to be much more tolerant of 'real' lesbians than they are of gay men. Just because the guy gets turned on by them doesn't mean he'll approve of members of his family associating with them for example.

You have to remember, some of the guys that claim homosexuality is 'unnatural and an abomination' in public are secretly beating off to gay porn too...

They don't see "real" lesbians in those porn vids, they see "living breathing vagina and titty bearing toys". They are so detached from the real world in their adolescent headspace that they see moving objects that exist for them as targets on which to to project their masturbatory fantasies.

A real lesbian ( in just about any number of manifestations from lipstick lesbian to bull dyke, to refer to the stereotypes, and all of the person-next-door types) would garner their disgust. A real person is so far removed from their appreciation that it is foreign territory. And therefore, to be feared.

Yes, i agree whit you. The men who are excited by lesbian girls, fakes or trues, are the typical maschilists ones of the stereotypes.
