I'm not a guy, but even I've wondered how accurate measurements in various polls have been, particularly when the test takers are nervous or not fully or exceptionally aroused. And I won't even deal with how some of you guys might unconsciously or purposefully exaggerate when measuring.

While I've never really attempted a clinical type of measurement of boyfriends or an ex husband (mainly just a few occasions when in a lighthearted manner I've held up a ruler or tape measure), I could tell that the natural flexibility of the penis and the skin at the base of it made an accurate starting and ending point very difficult to determine.

I think your post should be automatically inserted into a discussion on this board whenever the subject of average size and the reliability of various surveys takes place.

I have never conducted such a 'study' (i.e., daily measurements), but I've measured my erect and flaccid penis quite a few times.

Although I do have big variations in flaccid length and girth, my erect measurements were quite consistent every time, unlike carter2006 and other posters. When fully hard, the girth is always 5.75", never truly varied from that. The length varies perhaps by half an inch (7.5"-8" - I say that my length is 8" but those are my "best" measurements), but I would not conclude that the size varies, it may just be the accuracy of the measurement (especially since my penis has a banana curve, so I have to use a seamstress tape to measure length).
One thing that was mentioned here is how measuring erect length and girth wth different arousal levels may yield different measurements. I always try to measure when fully hard, so maybe this is why I have less variation.

Firstly, Carter, I would like to say that you are a terrible person for giving me such ideas ... but anyway, I went ahead and carried out a variation of your original test as well over the past four days. And the results are pretty similar ... with a fluctuation of up to around an inch in length and about half an inch in girth depending on time/climate/arousal.

For years, I've given the size of my cock according to a quick ruler measurement I did as a-tiny-bit-under-8" x 6.25". I really haven't bothered to remeasure since, as I felt there was unlikely to be any addtional growth after age 23. And the scary thing is that the mean average of the ten readings (taken using the piece-of-string method both for length and girth), despite their fluctuations, could scarcely match those measurements any more precisely: 7.96" x 6.21". So I can go on using my old statistic with impunity. I didn't bother with flaccid measurements, since, well, I found the act of measuring my penis would immediately bring on a semi, at least.

It's been an interesting experiment, in so far as it has made me realize as well that penis length/girth really can vary even more than I thought, and on a daily or even hourly basis. HOWEVER... I now don't feel the need to measure my penis again ... well, ever, probably!

Seriously, your results are similar to mine, and, like you I probably won't feel the need to measure my cock again for quite some time, but its very interesting. Something we both share is that our erection seem to be bigger later in the day as opposed to morning wood or mid-morning erections. Interesting also that your cock grew significantly in size during the same erection/masturbation session, and I think we can safely conclude that size increases considerably the hornier you get, and the closer to orgasm...

I wonder why my measurements don't seem to vary so much, especially compared to you guys (alex8 and carter2006). Then again, I haven't actually followed a strict program of measurement like you did (with time, activity, etc...). Not sure I really want/need to do this, but you got me curious (especially the fact that it seem to get significantly bigger just before ejaculation, I want to know if this also happens to me)...
