I thought I just clarified that I hadn't questioned his talent or his own estimation of it. I think he's probably QUITE clever about how to keep his audience in his corner. Perhaps I'm still not being clear that I was talking about two separate people in two separate paragraphs.
And as for his skill with words, I believe I just posted this.... Quote: | Sure, he has truly clever wordplay, and I respect that, ... | Pretty clear, I think. Quote: | Even Doctors of language and literature recognize his amazing ability with words. | Guess what I do for a living, Sham? ;)
I am certainly not trying to bring anyone's gods down. I'm quite accustomed to being the minority voice when it comes to music. (twenty gazillion cd-buyers can't be wrong, right?) I'm a humorless bastard about it. But I completely respect and support the right of any adult to purchase whatever music he or she pleases. I also have the right to puncture the balloons of multiplatinum millionaires (hell, it's my duty!) and to disagree with what I perceive as irresponsible hatemongering.
Just my two cents.
Listen, man, I respect your point of view and am not trying to create a quarrel of any kind. Ask around--I'm as peaceloving as they come around here. :hi: I'm just trying to clarify what I said, what I meant, and what I had meant to say but perhaps failed to. | Oops. Sorry buddy, I re-read it. I was pretty stoned when I was posting, you know, perception and all. No beef. :toast:

I think you forgot to say that he got SUCH shit from using that word that he had to publicly apologize and promise not to use it again, IIRC. | I personally didn't give a fuck, but shit like "I don't like that nigger shit" won't fly in an aesthetic rooted in black culture. I never bought this tramp's music besides the EP in 98, but this could have been the start of his decline.
For Vanilla Ice it was Arsenio Hall
For Slim it could have been this tape.

Now about Eminem with Sir Elton: that proves nothing one way or the other about his alleged homophobia. Axl Rose is nothing if not a homophobe, and he has made no bones about it. He has confirmed his views of ass piracy in interviews. But he performed a duet with Elton John on a televised Freddie Mercury tribute. They did an absolutely awful rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. I would've thought that at least Sir Elton would sing on key, but that was not the case. Axl Rose was asked that, given his outspoken views on homosexuality, if he felt hypocritical about performing with an openly gay artist in a tribute to another openy gay artist who died of AIDS. His response is that he respected Elton John's and Freddie Mercury's musicianship even though he found their sexual orientation repugnant. Oh. Since this is the LPSG, if anyone is curious about how Axl Rose is hung, let me just say that he performed Bohemian Rhapsody in his boxer-briefs (how classy! :eyes:): he didn't have a bulge ... he had what could only be called a 'bump'. His cock was clearly outlined in the boxer-briefs, and he had a little nubbin in there. | What is your definition of Homophobe? It seems to me that your description of Axl Rose doesn't fit with my definition of the word.
Obviosly he doesn't hate gays, he respects them as people, but only disagrees with their sexual practices. Whats wrong with that? Maybe some people don't think that a homosexual act is palatable, and it skeeves them out. Why do people have to wholly accpet a person's sexual appetite? If someone likes to have scat sex, does that mean that people shouldn't look at it as weird? And yes I am equating homosexual acts with scat sex, but only to make a point. To me, homosexual acts are not as repugnant as scat sex (lesbian porno really turns me on), but my point is that to some people it is. Everybody has different tastes. Why is someone labeled a homophobe just because they don't share the same sexual taste as yourself? Am I a scataphobe? I don't hold anything against those that like to eat shit when they have sex, they probably aren't bad people, I just wouldn't kiss any of them, or have them cook for me. It seems to me that Axl doesn't feel uncomfortable with elton john or freddie mercury, he does not hate them because of what they do in the bedroom, he simply does not like the thought. Whats so wrong with that?

| | | So why can't "they" be as disinterested in OUR sex lives
as we are in theirs.
So the summation should be "it's OK to be gay, just don't DO anything?"
