I'm with you, Vince ... although for me there were really two "aha" moments in my life, with the ultimate realization coming fairly late. I was an early developer and was full-sized by 12 or 13 ... so I knew then from what I saw in the gym locker room that I was big for my age, but just assumed that I was early and the other guys would "catch up" size-wise. I also didn't assign a lot of importance to my size at that age because I was blissfully unaware of the importance (male) society attaches to cock size.
Then I totally lost track of the whole issue until I was 19. I didn't spend much time in gym showers as a teen, and my high school girlfriend was too inexperienced to know (or care) much about size. I assumed I was maybe slightly above average ... it's easy for a guy who only sees his own dick to come to think it looks "normal," and it's not much of a mental leap from "normal" to "average" ... at least, this was how it worked for me. In my sophomore year of college I started hitting the gym regularly and could see other (mostly smaller) guys in the showers, and right around the same time I read in Men's Health just how small "average" really is ... so this was when I finally realized that most of the other guys had not "caught up" after all.
