This is much better, and an easier read with the formatting!
Imo, the plot could be tighter, tho. Have you tried writing with narration and different point of views filling in more of the details?

Also, not sure I mentioned this before, but have you ever read Chester Himes? He did really good urban fiction - if you want to see how to make the urban translate and build rounded characters.
