Whew, that's a doozy of a post.

I really think this idea of just freezing costs has promise. Can you talk to the petroleum companies about that? Retail merchandisers? Utility providers? Maybe Mr. Freeze could help out! (Mr. Freeze - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Some folks might object to the freezing of markets, though, might'nt they? Wouldn't freezing the market amount to a takeover of sorts? Which seems to be something you passionately oppose?

As you sagely point out, takeover of industry is a hallmark of Islam, so it might raise some eyebrows, especially in South Carolina perhaps....

Hmm.....

If you are unable to address the issues and support what you state, then that is your problem. You proved you weren't up to the intellectual challenge a long time ago.

Rep. Joe Wilson told the truth:

ObamaCare will cover illegal immigrants-Congressional Research Service
September 10, 2009

Quote:
Mark Tapscott discovers a nugget in the analysis provided by the Congressional Research Office on HR3200, the House version of ObamaCare coming to the floor. While Barack Obama insists that the idea that ObamaCare will cover illegal immigrants is a "myth," the CRS points out that the bill does nothing to prevent it. Since HR3200 doesn't require people to establish citizenship or legal residency before applying to exchanges for health insurance, including the public option, taxpayer money will certainly flow to illegal immigrants:

Quote:
"Under H.R. 3200, a 'Health Insurance Exchange' would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option…H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens—whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently—participating in the Exchange."

Thanks for bringing that to light Trinity.

Also, do the Dems on here have an answer to the NONPARTISAN Congressional Budget Office that says the proposed health care plan is not economically feasible?

Here is what the Director of the CBO reported:

The director of the Congressional Budget Office issued a warning to Democrats Thursday that their health care proposals would raise costs, not lower them.

One day after a Senate panel approved its version of the health care reform plan, the first committee to do so, CBO Director Doug Elmendorf gave a dose of bad medicine to a separate committee.

Asked by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., whether costs would be lowered -- also known as "bending the curve" -- Elmendorf responded: "The curve is being raised."

Specter wants Wilson censured

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Penn.), who's looked at POTUS from both sides now, was just on the Bill Press radio show suggesting the South Carolina firebrand Joe Wilson be censured for his heckle heard round the world.

Of course they were. As I stated, those were the polls listed on the CBS website. If you would be so kind as to post a link to the poll your article referenced then we can all see what you were touting.

As I pointed out about above, outburst or no outburst. Joe Wilson was correct. Obamacare is written to allow coverage of illegal immigrants. I'm sure Obama and the Democrats want to stay talking about House Rules and Decorum but I'm talking about my healthcare. And Rep. Wilson was telling the truth and Obama wasn't...about a lot of things in that speech.

You may continue to believe what you want to believe...........(and for the record, Obama's health care plan and Hillary Clinton's Primary health care plan are the same........you remember hillary, don't you?)

From politifact.org, a NON partisan Pulitzer Prize winning organization:Joe Wilson of South Carolina said Obama lied, but he didn't

When we look at all of this evidence, it seems that health reform leaves in place the status quo on illegal immigration, and certainly does not provide any new benefits particularly for illegal immigrants.

From Factcheck.orgFalse: Illegal Immigrants Will Be Covered
One Republican congressman issued a press release claiming that "5,600,000 Illegal Aliens May Be Covered Under Obamacare," and we’ve been peppered with queries about similar claims. They’re not true. In fact, the House bill (the only bill to be formally introduced in its entirety) specifically says that no federal money would be spent on giving illegal immigrants health coverage:
H.R. 3200: Sec 246 — NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS
Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.
Also, under current law, those in the country illegally don’t qualify for federal health programs. Of interest: About half of illegal immigrants have health insurance now, according to the nonpartisan Pew Hispanic Center, which says those who lack insurance do so principally because their employers don’t offer it.

Yep, I do remember Hillary. And Hillary had a universal healthcare plan and Obama refused to mandate universal coverage. In other words, they had different plans.

I get my fact checking from the Congressional Research Service.
Quote:
In its subsection on health insurance subsidies (known as “affordability credits”), HR 3200 does state, “Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.” That would seem to solve the problem, but it’s more rhetoric than reality. The bill contains no verification requirement or enforcement process for citizenship or legal residency, as exists for other federal benefit programs. The only verification required for the subsidies pertains to family income. Beyond that, as the CRS report notes, everything is left in the hands of the Health Choices Commissioner.
House Democrats defeated all attempts in committee to add an enforcement mechanism that would require proof of citizenship or legal residency for those getting subsidies.
Congressional Research Service: ObamaCare will cover illegal immigrants

“Treatment of Non-Citizens in HR3200 - Congressional Research Service
Quote:
CRS also notes that “undocumented aliens” who have a “substantial presence” in the US would be required to buy health insurance (page 4) through the exchanges in HR3200. They would also become eligible for “emergency Medicaid,” although not normal Medicaid (page 6) for up to five years.
What about Section 246, which I said would prevent the spending of money on illegal aliens? The CRS analysis is less than impressed with that portion of the bill. Section “246 would bar unauthorized aliens from receiving any premium or cost-sharing credit,” it says, but that may be hard to enforce. It also states later that “absent of a provision in the bill specifying the verification procedure, that the Commissioner would be responsible for determining a mechanism to verify the eligibility of noncitizens for the credits” — or in other words, HR3200 fails to provide it entirely. I gave it a little too much credit, apparently, more than Congress’ own analysts do.
Still waiting on your link to the CBS poll.

I would actually take this response seriously if you weren't such a miserable hack. All you do is copy/paste excessive amounts of material from various editorials & blogs. You don't debate... you spam. Don't mistake what you do as intelligence. It doesn't take an intellectual to regurgitate someone else's arguments. But it does take a fraud to constantly pretend as if that's your assessment. Or do you want to admit that you can't think for yourself and need the misguided opinions of everyone else to validate your own ignorance?

Now, come again? Oh, that's right... you don't get the right to debate with me again. I'm not even going to waste my breath talking to you about the subject matter. You're lucky Indy still humors your sorry ass.

Yes, let's attack our opponents instead of debating them Am I the only one who sees that the points brought up have not been addressed by the "Obama Lovers" ?

So many ideologic palterers and demagogues couldn't possibly be expected to hash out the details at the expense of their constituency, could they? Realistically, while none of you may like it we're probably going to get a vast and diluted (yes i mean porky and useless)version of this bill, or a stripped down version with no real merit.

I think it's simple:

If the democrats want this so badly, they must sort the differences among themselves and send a bill to President Obama. If they really want it badly enough, they'll accept ownership of it and do it. I think they're too scared to do so.

Republicans see it in their interest to stay as far from this as they can, because if it fails, it will give them political ammunition for 3 or 4 major elections. Unfortunately, this will force them to withhold reasonable ideas from the debate.

This is truly the most simple case of money and power that people of my age have ever been in a position to see on.

Truthfully, I think pilot testing of the efficiency of such programs must be done, and auditted. I'm too pragmatic to believe we should ovehaul the whole thing without seeing simnple results on a small scale first.
