They are inexpensive, and comfortable. They come in a variety of colors to match outfits. I can't stand it; it always draws attention to their feet, and that's something I DO NOT want to look at as i'm walking past you. Quote:
| Generally, It confuses and infuriates me to see people dressed like they've just gotten back from the beach, even though there isn't one around for hundreds of miles. I didn't start noticing this trend until the summer of 2007. |
I don't know where you live but I noticed it long before that. I used to marvel at the usually obese women wearing sweatpants overcoats and flip-flops to the supermarket in December in New Jersey. This was at least 10-15 years ago. Quote:
| Does anybody know why the hell this happened? If so, is there anything I can do to stop it? |
I have no idea why this is occurring and no you cannot stop it. The only time the wearing of those cheap rubber thongs annoys me is in the workplace. I don't care if they are bejeweled and bedazzled they have no place in the workplace unless you are a lifeguard. In addition I hated hearing that schlamp-schlap, schlamp-schlap, schlamp-schlap going past my cubicle from May through September.
One pet peeve. Technically the footwear with a piece that goes between your big toe and 2nd toe is a thong; regardless of whether it is rubber or leather. Flip-flops have either one or multiple bands or straps which go horizontally across the foot with nothing between the toe.
