To suggest that there is an increasingly obvious undercurrent of misogyny in porn, or treating women disrepectfully, is NOT to suggest that YOU are guilty individually.

It seems whenever someone writes a thoughtful and insightful post discussing current cultural phenomena or trends... there are always gonna be a few people who obstinately assume that the finger is being pointed at EVERYONE... or that the finger is being pointed directly at THEM.

Speaking in generalizations about common cultural phenomena is NEVER an indictment of everyone. ITs an observation that a certain phenomenon has become so common that it has become identifiably a trend.

If I say, "wow, why is everybody buying SUVs these days?" You have to be some kind of idiot to angrily respond that, since YOU haven't bought an SUV, the OP is a both wrong and a jerk.

Intelligent adults can deal with the fact that ALL statements referring to humanity collectively are generalizations... and that all generalizations only describe a percentage of human behavior.
And they can do this without having to add strings of qualifiers to every damn sentence.

The OP is not condemning consensual S&M nor B&D. She is not questioning the right of women in the porn industry to make money doing these scenes.

She is pointing out that, if you compare porn over the past several decades, there seems to be a noticeable trend toward the women in the videos being treated more disrespectfully.

She is not saying John Holmes never slapped a woman with his dick...
She is saying that it has become a far more prevalent image.
Surely there were misogynistic males in the 1970's to whom some porn producers aimed their products.
She is saying that it seems to be a much larger market, today. And the imagery more extreme.

And many here have agreed.

In the 1970s I never saw a porn video where a man forcibly rammed his cock down a woman's throat to the point of making her puke.
Now its an entire genre of porn.

And, I will note, its specifically a fantasy involving women... I have never seen gay porn showing men throat fucking other men to the point of puking.

The OP and those who agree with her are not being self righteous jerks... they are dispassionately discussing a societal trend they have noticed and what might be the root cause of that trend.

If you are reacting so strongly... perhaps the OP hit a trifle too close to home?
This is why i love vintage porn. It was what i first was exposed to so i've personally seen the trend change. There is a category on efukt.com called "I'll never do porn again" and i cant believe how those guys can treat those women and keep an erection. They often have to console them after abusing them because they are in tears. It's truly bothersome to see how sites like sell porn like that even keep business. If that isnt misogyny, i don't know what is.

Phil, i appreciate you explaining exactly what my OP said but with your articulate spin on it. You are truly a gem around here even if some things you say don't go over well with others. I can appreciate your intelligence in psychology, you do have a way with words sir.

But i have a feeling the 2 people who had to have this post further explained to them as if 13 some odd pages didn't do that already, arent going to get what you are saying because they don't want to see it. It might mess up their fantasy of what most females dig.
