Marls, you're smarter than this.
If you can listen to someone and remember what they told you ... that's no small thing.
Now, if what you hear and remember obliterates your own thought processes, that not good.
But that can be just as true of someone who has Grade 8 and works in a coffeeshop as of someone who has a D.Phil. from Oxford.
Meanwhile, the person who has a D.Phil. from Oxford is going to have a hell of a lot more relevant information to draw on, to the extent that he does do some of his own thinking.
And people who begin university with some originality of mind and intellectual creativity are not going to have it effaced by sitting in a university classroom.
If anything, it will be enhanced ... because there are a lot of very creative and original peeps at university ... behind the lectern, and in the lecture hall seats.
