Marley, thanks for your support but I can't let you get away with that rant. It takes two to make a baby and if some young black women are getting pregnant, it's because some young black men have been all too eager to prove their manhood and no one is using condoms. This isn't just an issue with African-Americans but with all teenage pregnancies (there are more White teenage pregnancies than Black, so please spread that blame around to everyone). Why are there teenage pregnancies among all groups? One is lack of access to birth control, two raging hormones, and three girls who feel lost and think that having a baby will give them a sense of identity and someone to love.

As for the lack of education, you only need to look at the schools, the money they get for resources, the neglect by the school systems and the social and economic environment that pushes many to make money to survive. These issues are deep and are far more complex that what you suggest above. Lots of Black women work hard to take care of their children and give them good lives. Many of the educated Black men come from mothers who have never gone to college.

There are many forces at work here, but demonizing 15 yo girls distorts the reality and complexity of the issues.
