I understood that you meant it in a lighthearted way, but to me, it makes it sound like gay men go into uncontrollable rutting behavior (and maybe some do.)

I wouldn't have sex with either one, if I were not attracted to either one. And I know I may be the only one in the world like this, but it's not likely that I will find someone unattractive when I'm not horny, but attractive when I am. I'm just not wired that way. I don't have sex with anyone to whom I'm not sexually attracted.
