Ugh…I’m late coming to this thread but just wanted to give you some sympathy because I’ve been dealing with this the last few months…

I’ve gotten maybe 3-4 uti’s EVER (I am 33) and with my current boyfriend, I’ve also had 4 or so within 2 months. It’s very much related to sex for me but why so bad with this guy I have no idea. (I have wondered if it had anything to do with his size...but he's not that big, just bigger than average...)

I’ve done all the things: Drank lots of water, peed before and after sex (which is hard to do if you’re having a lot of sex like I was in the beginning of the relationship), took cranberry supplements morning and night, wipe front to back, they even told me not to wear thongs but I think that is bs because it’s not a problem when I’m not having sex… (Studies have shown cranberry to be effective in PREVENTING infection in the bladder because tannins in the fruit keep the bacteria from sticking to the bladder wall but will not cure an infection. I’d have to drink 2 8 oz glasses of juice for it to work, so I took supplements which still didn’t help…)

You need to be seen when you have one because they will do a culture to tell what kind of bacteria it is so they use the correct antibiotic.

For me, I am to the point I take one antibiotic pill when I have sex and that has helped.

Also, we discussed seeing a urogynecologist to see if there was a structural problem but since I haven’t had this problem like this in the past, she didn’t think that was the case.

They do not really understand why this happens related to sex. It is more likely with a new partner although again not understood why. I’m hoping it will go away eventually. It sucks. I hate taking pills and antibiotics.

Oh and as far as the on the top…not happening here because that’s the only way I come during sex!

Oh and get thee to the ob/gyn if not for the uti but for the pap!! Very important!
