"The rise of the Tea Party at at time when taxes are literally at their lowest in decades is really hard to understand." No one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick.

That ENTIRE website is pure partisan propaganda and scare tactics that have absolutely no basis in the truth.

His whole speech tonight was a gaffe in my opinion ... does he realize how seriously the Republicans and the "Blue Cross Democrats" take this? To them it's a question of whether we remain "America" or become a semisocialist state like Canada or Western Europe.
I expected Obama to come out and say that the "public option" is not socialized medicine, it's a check on the insurance industry to keep them honest.
I expected him to say that reform is not just about providing coverage to people who don't have it, it's about how your mother or father or husband or wife will be treated when they're gravely ill: like a human being with dignity or like a financial liability.
I expected him to trash the argument that we have the "best health care system in the world" with facts about expenditures on health care and our relative healthiness compared to other Western nations. Instead he made vague references to our being "no healthier."
I hope and pray that Obama is waiting until the last minute to really take charge of this, so that he can say he gave Congress every chance.
But I fear that Hillary and John Edwards were right: to make health care reform a reality you need a president who wants to *fight* the Republicans and the big corporations tooth and nail, not a president who thinks he can reason and negotiate with them.
Bad job by Obama tonight. And to make it much worse, on his way out the door he makes sure everyone knows that he trusts Harvard professors more than cops. Brilliant.

The problem with the healthcare industry IS the insurance companies who run it. I don't think that ANY reform is possible without doing away with the huge waste of money and time that is "health insurance administration."
I also happen to know some insanely rich people who own insurance companies. I think it's sick.

I totally agree. Although I also think doctors and hospitals bear some responsibility for their stubborn resistance to technology (information technology, not medical technology).

Americans have said enough is enough. No more big government, and no more ramming in 1,000 page legislation w/out any vetting just cause you have control of the House.

Fixed that for you
And you're absolutely right about the fact that Americans have said enough is enough. They did that loud and clear during the election last November.

I'm a blackAmerican male and even I will admit that Obama is being nigger rich and spending way too much money on stuff that he has no idea about like Health Care which will not work at all, and other programs that are useless and he's just driving us into even MORE debt.
Is 'Gaffe' the only word in your vocabulary? You need to be a little more descriptive. You use this word multiple times per thread. Just because you claim someone makes a mistake, doesn't mean its true. And if it is, (in the words of George Bush), "So?!"
Don't make me pull out the Hillary gaffe reel...
