Mayo Clinic Blasts House Democratic Health Care Bill
By Philip Klein on 7.20.09 - The American Spectator
The Mayo Clinic, which President Obama has touted as a model for the rest of the health care system, has delivered a blistering critique of the House Democratic health care bill:
Although there are some positive provisions in the current House Tri-Committee bill – including insurance for all and payment reform demonstration projects – the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients. In fact, it will do the opposite.
Oh dear........you've been taken in by the right wing noise machine once again. The Mayo story is Faux news:

According to Ms Holmes, she was diagnosed with a “brain tumor”
if only her story was true.
Sometime in 2005, In scores of interviews, she consistently claimed she could not receive timely treatment in Toronto and was forced to seek medical care at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Shona is a wannabe-be poster child for the Worldwide failings of government run Healthcare. She spins a shocking yarn, one that would make Socialists everywhere bow their Public Option heads in shame –
Over the 4 years since Ms Holmes’ cyst was removed from the ample cavity between her ears, her condition has worsened. Not her actual physical condition, but rather, the ubiquitously reheard and revised description of her medical odyssey.
Back in the Summer of 2007, the propaganda machine at the Mayo Mayo Clinic decided to print Ms Holme’s human interest story in an internal Clinic publication....

..."Her (Holmes) treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona cost $100,000, and she and her husband put a second mortgage on their home and borrowed from family and friends to pay for it...."
Yes it's dailykos but it is FULLY sourced. The only embarassment here is for the right wing noise machine:

Daily Kos: State of the Nation

"Presidents place their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution. They don't put their hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible."

The poll numbers ABC focused on in this segment with George Stephanopoulos and Diane Sawyer were startling and no good news for Pres. Obama:

**applauds Trinity** People like you are the reason people lose faith in something that is entirely a good attempt. Surely you must realize the Tax credit and other points purposed in the plan is merely the same crap that has been proven to get the USA no where.

As for the Mayo clinic, it's not like the entire clinic is against Obama. Why do you bother to post such incredible hate? Why post these insensate lies and just bad press? Support your president, come up with better options that have reasonable ideas. Put the hate away. It does absolutely nothing, except cause confusion and slow down the processes of getting things done.

If I don't go along with you and Obama I'm spreading hate? You don't have the lock on right and neither does Obama. There are millions of Americans who do not support his policies and that number is growing everyday. If Obama is doing this for the People, then listen to the People - A majority does not support his plan. We have every right to speak up and stop harmful policies from going forward.

I believe this bill is just another bad, sloppy bill being forced through so that Obama and Dems can say they did something. I believe just like the Mayo Clinic...
the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients. In fact, it will do the opposite. - Mayo Clinic
Those are strong words because we can't afford more costly mistakes that just make our healthcare, economy and future worse off.

Trinity, why don't you just finally come out and say it. You hate Obama and have from the very beginning and that hatred only grew when he defeated Hillary in the Primary and he will never do anything right in your eyes. I admit, I hated Bush and he could never do anything right in my eyes.

59% Too Much Government Spending

ABC News acknowledged the significance of these polls.

Yahoo!

This is about a bad Healthcare plan presented by Obama and the Democrats and even worse handling of the Economy by Obama.

Randomly throwing fuel on to fire - the current US health system is the most expensive in the world, 15.2% of GDP required to run. And the least efficient - ranked on nearly every metric amongst the worst of western countries. Compared to countries where the health care is more publicly funded - total cost drops down to nearly 8%. Nearly half.

Think that's enough evidence that privatised healthcare systems don't work at all.. any reform towards a more publicly funded one can only improve the state of affairs - and leave Americans with more money in their pockets to spend on other things. Taxes goes up, but insurance costs go down by even more...

To the OP - you've obviously never spent a day studying economics in your life. It doesn't matter where government money in spent - it can lift an economy out of a recession. You can spend that money on employing people to dig holes and fill them in again - it really doesn't matter. Here in Aus, recently everyone was given cash in hand, and it's showed to work well. Look up the "multiplier effect" for info on how government spending can have a large effect on the economy...

Sorry Indy, but...No.

First of all, I never cited anything Hannity said about the Mayo Clinic's statement and Obama. You are reaching for anything there.

Second of all, We have already had this discussion about Media Matters. Media Matters is biased. It's sole purpose is to slam Conservative Media.

And Lastly, By the Four Articles I posted and many others...It is clear what the Mayo Clinic stated. The Mayo Clinic SLAMMED Obama's and the Democrat House Healthcare Reform Bill.

It does not get any clearer than:
the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients. In fact, it will do the opposite. - Mayo Clinic
Hannity was correct. The Mayo Clinic's first statement is from June 16th.

Mayo Clinic Rebukes Obamacare, How Will Media Respond?
And The Mayo Clinic follow up statement from Yesterday July 21:
Late yesterday, Mayo Clinic became aware of the concept of development of an Independent Medicare Advisory Council. We applaud the direction of this proposal. - Mayo Clinic
Hannity's program was broadcast on July 21st. Not only was Hannity correct no matter what date the Mayo Clinic released it's second statement, Media Matters knows that Hannity didn't omit that information because of the timing.

Media Matters demonstates its bias! How ridiculous!

Oh, by the way the Mayo Clinic wasn't glowing in support of Obama's Healthcare Reform Plan in that statement either:
While we think the proposal’s timeline of 2014 is too long to wait to see value-based reforms, we look forward to working with the administration on refining and strengthening their new proposal. This, and other, bold concepts have the potential to “bend the cost curve” in U.S. health spending without compromising health. - Mayo Clinic
The Mayo Clinic didn't really wipe the egg off Obama's face!

Sorry, but you need to dust off the economics book; not the OP.

The multiplier effect relates to the amount of money banks need to keep on deposit versus the amount available for lending. For example, if the reserve requirement is 15%, that means that for every $100 deposited at a bank, the bank needs to keep $15 on deposit and can lend the other $85; creating a 'multiplier effect' on spending.

However, I do agree that government spending can have a large affect on the economy. As the U.S. administration has demonstrated over the past 6 years, government spending has a devastatingly adverse affect on the economy.

Cheers.

Fiscal Multiplier. Can't believe you didn't even google the term before "correcting" someone. Poor form.

"In economics, the multiplier effect or spending multiplier is the idea that an initial amount of spending (usually by the government) leads to increased consumption spending and so results in an increase in national income greater than the initial amount of spending."

If we had a nickel for every anti-Obama post that Trinity has made on this board, we would have enough money to bail out Wall Street, the Banks and pay for Nationalized Health Care with money left to spare. The entity surpassed "disagreeing" about 8 months ago.

Hated by many, understood by a few. A fun-loving techno & anime freak, but very "ignorance intolerant". Will bite if provoked... or on request if you're lucky.

Classic backpedal.

You said 'multiplier effect' in the previous post. See below:

Multiplier Effect

Now you are saying 'fiscal multiplier' and 'spending multiplier.'

Which is it?

You are the one that berated the OP by indicating that he hadn't ever cracked on economics book; when you are the one that misused the terminology. Don't go around attacking people when you don't have your facts straight. And try to act like an adult. That helps too.
