What I'm learning now is that you have to base your confidence on how good you feel about yourself and not so much how others feel about you. My self-worth was shattered by years of rejection. But now I know it wasn't a problem with me but with my wife.
I suspect something awful happened to her before I met her and she hasn't been able to deal with it. It's unfortunate that she chose to ignore and run away from her issues, rather than work on them with me. But I think I'll be a lot better off in the long run.
