Thanks, espreggels, point taken. I think one of the objectives for these stories is to communicate the emotions of the moment, and that can sometimes mean reiterating characteristics of the characters. I tend to like a lot of background, and some people seem to like it, some not. I will re-look at whether this was too heavy-handed though.
