No, Sicily is an island and Italy is a peninsula. They both happen to belong to the political nation of Italy because their populations supposedly speak dialects of the italian language. Corsica, on the other hand, is a part of France politically, but its population also speaks an italian dialect. The Trentino is a part of Italy politically, but its population speaks a german dialect. Then there are the Piedmontese and Trieste. Europe: Every nook and cranny has its own peculiar history.
