I think most ppl are bi to some extent. Western society tends to bifurcate things: Good and evil, male and female, straight and gay. (And yes, I am implying something about the West by lumping male and straight with good, and female and gay with evil.) Even the way hermaphrodites are treated: The penis/clitoris is excised by doctors, in most cases without the parents' approval.

I'm afraid that it's not restricted to Western thinking. Many Oriental cultures also equate women with evil, weakness and inferiority. But in Western culture, the male chauvinist will often point out that it was Eve's weakness and her subsequent evil trickery that caused Man's expulsion from Paradise. I don't subscribe to this point of view myself. You chicks are okay by me! ;)
