wvalady1968: Tender, you sound like a very caring wife and cool lady.

I don't want to step on your toes re porn because I, too, believe in rights. I suppose my philosophy is summed up with what a friend said, "I don't care where my husband gets his appetite, as long as he eats at home."

I hope you do stay and join in the discussions. You sound like a good person. :-*

47boreas: My religion is Protestant (Lutheran Church).

I have had one Catholic and some Jewish friends, but during last years I have not kept in contact with them, because they do not live here. One of my Jewish friends died of heart attack some years ago. :'( Her humour was VERY wit. I miss her.

I am Protestant, Presbyterian USA, but attend regularly the Methodist Church where I'm an associate member and choir member. I began worship at that church b/c of its location, whereas the closest Pres church wasn't
conveniently located. The outstanding choir director there has proved my selection rewarding.

Before marrying my Dad and becoming Presbyterian, my Mom was a Methodist whose granddad was a Methodist minister.

I don't necessary believe one should become a member of the church his parents raised him in, so in my early 30s I read theology widely and discovered my personal beliefs.

The best and longest-time friend I have had is Catholic
with a double Major in theology and now working on his Doctorate. I respect lots of the formality of his religion, but differ with the churche's administrative structure.

I'm happy to see this thread on LPSG, coz, after all, I think we owe all we are and have (yeah, that included) to God.

Inwood: Church of Christ (not latter day saints) conservative branch.

I believe in God, etc. Just got different things out of it then others. Never baptized though. Felt you had to be clear about things before you did that or you were faking it. Plus I figure there's a special hell for ones who do fake it.

But overall a strong secularist when it comes to government. Freedom of religion yes but also freedom from religion. Which by the way makes me think government shouldn't recognize marriage. Only civil unions since it's not legal no matter what the church does in the way of ceremony. You're only married if the state says you are (as I understand it as explained by a lawyer friend). That way the question of marriage can be shouted over by the religious and atheists and all people in between all they want. The government wouldn't get involved. But that's just me and my opinion. Not to mention off topic but we won't go there. ;D

Some of the best hymn singing I've ever heard was in a Church of Christ. Since they don't use instruments in worship (their argument is that they are a New Testament church, and no mention of instruments is made, unlike the Old Testament), the congregation sings in beautiful four part harmony. Locally, there is a very large Church of Christ that is known for it's singing and has a fantastic vocal ensemble that leads some of the singing.

ORCABOMBER: I am interested by the results. I'm Catholic, altough I believe, I think I tend to call him "bastard" more often then not. No offence, I'm a yoof, I have an excuse! ;D

I suppose that also counts to most of my issues dick related as well.

----------
One comment for Tender. Men and porn seem to go hand in hand, since he's given you three wonderfull children and seems to be "going through the motions for a fouth". No problems huh? Fantasy and reality are pretty distinct for us. OK?
----------
Solis, that is a really good comment about the more conserved religons, I suppose their might be something anti-morals or even "heathern" about this site, but we're legitimate, and frankly, I like you guys. Don't change! Bring your friends! <^.^>
---------------
Inwood. Now there's a really good point actually, I think the difficult thing is that sometimes religon and culture go side by side, not often peacefully, if we take Northern Island vs Ireland, I've often wondered if I shouted "I'm Black!" Down the border, would I get shot by both sides?

Also with the "WOT" and the Pope's attitude to contraception, religon seems to be getting a bad rep at the mo.
