When the rock music will get resurrected?

I'm a rock fan and is sad to me that this genre is pretty much death .
The classic rock really ROCKS . I wish that a new generation of rock bands put the genre back on track like it was in the 70's and 80's .
The variety and the quality of the music was amazing back then .

Never. Not until the music industry takes a valid interest in developing the talent of a artist like they did so many years ago. Its all about money and a flash in the pan. Thats ok the music industry( as we know it) will fold like a cheap camera in the very near future. Cd's will be a thing of the past. The artist will skip the music industry and go right to the fans.

I think maybe you should look harder and expect the natural market to give it to you less. The sales demographics have ballooned from impressing a a bunch of people to millions of people, thus the bill board stuff has become watered down. Find a more independently run store, website, forum, radio station(broadcast or digital) and ask questions. I surf various online rock stations, and read about peoples interests on lj communities. In a world where everyone thinks they're a critic, you can always find a decent opinion. If you want rock from the 60s and 70s, sorry dude that time has passed evolve or dig up more corpses. There's plenty of old un-heard-ofs from way back when as well just harder to unearth.

Actually, rock isn't dead, the good stuff isn't as mainstream as it use to be.

I've noticed a pattern in what I listen to. I looked at almost all the rock I listen to it, and I can say that none of it I have ever heard on the radio.

You gotta actually search for good bands, which is sad. Lyrically and musically, the popular stuff is usually really, really bad and generic. But hey, it sells.

This is going on as we speak. It will be a wonderful revolution indeed. In the near future copyright laws will be a thing of the past also. When music or a movie is released it will become part of the public domain. This will take some time but it will happen. Its the result of the industry being greedy and screwing the public the last 30 years. Anarchy? Yes and i love it.

Yes you make a very good point. There is great music being made but one must really look hard to find it.

Im speaking of music in general and the lack of creativity are the result of a greedy industry. Even art as we know it has hit a dead end. Computer generated paintings being created in a nano second. Will it get that bad that a painter will no longer use a brush? We live in a instant and disposable society and now we are paying the price.

This is very true. The best way I know of to find new bands, without doing a lot of work, is to listen to Little Steven's radio show. He's the guy who used to be Bruce Springsteen's guitarist and played Silvio Dante on the Sopranos. His website is Little Steven's Underground Garage and you can check it out to see if he's on the radio in your town.

Two newish bands worth checking out, that I've just discovered recently, are the Hold Steady and The Black Kids (actually I've only heard one song by the Black Kids, but it's incredible.)

There is plenty of good rock out there....just not on the radio. Unless you count screamo whose singers I can't stand. But the music behind screamo is pretty damn good. But if you're looking for rock check The Toadies, Record Hop, Black Keys, Centro-matic, Stephen Malkmus and Jick (formerly Pavement)....some older 10 years or so, stuff......John Spencer Blues Explosion (friggin kick ass!...."Got No Worry" is a classic album)....Hum, Modest Mouse, ....if you don't like any of that....then you might be dead...haha!

The Black Keys are great, I have one of their CDs. In fact they sound a lot like a sludgy classic rock band from the early '70s.

Speaking from a musician's standpoint... ALL genres of MUSIC are suffering, and it's only due to get worse.

Mainstream? There IS no mainstream anymore. Musicians are finding ways to get their music out to the public other than the corporate (Clear Channel owed) radio of old. In their defense? They HAD to. The label industry was so tight-fisted about the money they were making; they didn't budge... and they COULD have... so technology (online downloading) taught them a thing or two.

Sure, some labels still make money, but they make it with what sells now. They hand pick their next radio stars and make sure they're cute enough to get endorsements from Coke, or Nike, or Adidas, so they can still make a decent profit off all the royalties. Talent is just an added bonus. Pitch correction has made anything possible.

Most good musicians aren't in that race. They don't care to play the game, so they're doing something different. Sure, no one is making NEAR what they used to, but musicians never made CRAP anyway, unless they toured. Touring is the new music outlet or record store. It's almost as if the internet is the 'underground' source, and then instead of buying the record, you go to a festival and spend your money on seeing them in concert. It has evolved into a free-for-all rush to put mediocre albums out (see below), and get enough gigs under your belt to play as many festivals as you can.

The quality of recordings and production has gone in the toilet, anyway. There's no way to fund an album that sounds great without the financial backing of a label, but, what's more... people don't give a shit. It only has to be recorded well enough to sound good on an IPOD, or some crappy computer speakers. The days when people might strive to achieve the next "Rumours" album are gone... (and don't give me that "I'm old" bullshit because I used that example. I was 2 years old when that record came out). Sadly, no one cares what things sound like on a nice stereo in 5-1.

Like everything classic, I really hope that geniune, raw, talent will come back around to kicking ass and taking names. The digitization of music has pissed me off so much that I want to puke. No more radio for me.... but then again, I'll still be recording on my 8-track in 10 years. LOL.

If you're looking to find good music, you should really consider going to some festivals. You would really be surprised how big some of them are getting. Bonnaroo, the ACL Music Festival, there are tons... look for them. If you're broke, at least look at the line-ups, and find those bands online and check out their myspace pages. You might be surprised.
