Some cultures have not let a new generation change what is natural throughout all of their history and culture as normal healthy male experiences that promote a healthy feeling about all of our bodies: YouTube - Suomiu sauna

You must feel so alive afterwards! | It is AWESOME! Full-body tingling, and you don't really even feel cold, like you think you would. Also, going back into the heat is another rush.
| PLEASE, before you ask to be my "FRIEND", at least say "hi". Don't just "collect" me as a friend. I actually have some exchange with those in my list. Ya know, like, we're FRIENDS.
Oh, sure, now that I'm bending over, I've got your attention. Where were you 5 minutes ago, when I was being brilliant?

I am still in awe as to why your body responds so well to it.
The only caveat is that I feel so heavenly afterwards that I drive like a fucktard.
Don't let your friends spa and drive!

OH, but back on topic, in the LA gyms where I've been in the saunas or steam rooms (single sex/non-coed), guys always wear towels, which they sometimes open, and RARELY, you'll see someone in trunks, or undies.

He was shocked that they actually fit me. He was even more shocked when I wore them to an underwear party .
Getting back onto topic, is it considered unsanitary to be dressed in speedos yet not using a towel when sitting down? If so, I'll use a towel to sit on next time I'm in one.

I use LA Fitness as well and everyone I have been in has a 'must wear clothes' type sign...
that said, if I am coming from swimming, I drop my shorts off (to dry), wrap a towel around me and sit on that... and then depends on the others there...
I have also had a few experiences with low hanging balls hitting hot wood, so be careful...
Not uncommen for men to come in fully clothed to warm/limber up before a workout (esp in the cold winter months).
Have seen a few guys in clothes (long sleeves) working OUT in the sauna to 'lose more weight' (one guy was going into the armed services or something...

i feel more comfortable wearing a towel when friends are present but if its a room of strangers, then i would definitely wear nothing (dont care what they might think of me)

Nudity in front of strangers seems to be easier and more freeing for some guys.

This is the precise opposite of what you see in Europe. The German spas I have been in, including all the hotel spas, have signs strictly forbidding any shorts/trunks/footwear etc in the saunas and steamrooms. It's "Go nude or go home". Many Europeans consider it thoroughly unhealthy to introduce anything other than a freshly washed nude body into the warm environment.
Cross-contamination is not tolerated.
My question here in the US is: what do you do with the towel after a sauna or steamroom use? At that point I consider the towel "used" and I certainly would not use it to dry off with. Yuck. So, is the solution to come into the "wet" area of the locker room with more than one towel? I have done this, and my clean towel(s) get ripped off quickly when I'm in the sauna or steamroom. Hell, I've lost more speedos and trunks that way than I can count, too.
The ideal solution, of course, is the high-end gym where they keep giving you an endless supply of clean, warm towels. But I work out at the Y.
